With all the smack talk about who has the best this and best that. I think we should talk about who has the best mini teams. To see a 5 year old do a round back had spring is the best!
OC has 1 Tiny team and 2 Minis. The tinys do quite a bit, then the minis are level 2 and 3. The level 3 is pretty good. It will be fun watching everyone. 99% of the minis on the level 3 team have tucks and quite a few have standing tucks.... but I dont think they will go level 4. But you never know.
No, our 5 year olds dont all have that kind of tumbling. But our 8 year olds do. And quite a few have standing tucks but I don't think it's more than half of the team like you said. I am thinking it's more like 25% but a few more are very very close. I don't see them everyday so I can't say for sure. But they all have back hand springs.
The tinys are working on their back hand springs with a few doing it with a light spot. But they do stunts like crazy. One little girl has an extension liberty (is that right?) at age 4, but they can't do that in competition if I am correct. I am not positive.
I remember seeing OC's younger teams at Jamz Nationals. The stuff they can do at such a young age is amazing. Unfortunately they usually have little to no competition because there just aren't mini, youth, even jr. prep teams at the high level they're at. Hopefully this season will be different!
Thanks!!! But I thought there wasn't any more prep levels. I am confused.
Yea, any higher that level 2 at that age is a rare find. That's the only thing that kinda sucks about being young and at a higher level. The kids don't learn all that much about being competitive and actually losing. Hopefully there will be more this year.
New Mom, you're right about Jr. Prep going away (and Sr. Prep). So I think Jr. Prep for most organizations is now Youth. Should make for more teams in each division at competitions (I hope so anyway).
Our Mini's are level 3 right now, possibly going level 4. Majority are level 4 but some aren't ready to move up just yet. Our other mini team is level 2.
I love watching the "advanced" mini teams. It's amazing what skills the kids are getting at a younger and younger age. I used to hate watching mini's. Cute, is not enough of a reason for me to lose a half hour of my life. One "cute" routine per competition is enough for me.
