I wish there were more choices in California, let alone the west coast to cheer at. I am out of college, but I know that it is VERY limited here. Even the open team scene is kinda slim pickings. T here are a few, but just seems like either they are all located in the bay area. You just put so much in cheer during high school and have to move far away in order to cheer at a high level.
MOREHEAD!!! Ok, so they're in the middle of hicksville in Kentucky, but they're AMAZING! They have something MOST schools can't offer, and thats an All-Girl and COED program, and of course one of my best friends!
Also, speaking about California teams, SDSU took second at UCA in the D1 All-Girl division last year, behind Texas, and that one was a toss up. Very close competition. They have a very good program with even more talent this year then last!
I know they have quite a few girls from the San Diego area gyms (Outlaws, Cali, Mavericks). I know their tumbling is off the hook, not sure about stunting though. In any event, I would place them in the top 2 again.
I think what she was saying is that you can't beat living in San Diego. And of course, someone had to put Cheerforce in there. You know its all about them even when it's about a location, i.e. San Diego vs Simi Valley...no contest. San Diego wins. Too bad Cheerforce, this is one area that isn't up for debate.
Don't know about the California schools, but Hawaii Pacific University offers full tuition scholarships to its cheerleaders. Their coed team has won Div II coed for the past 4 years at NCA. Their Sm Coed team has won Div II sm coed for the past 2 seasons. (every year since they debuted-is that a word?) They don't have an all girl team this year, but last year they took 3rd.
Does anyone know of the skills that you have to have to get a scholarship to hawaii or san diego? or even the skills just to be on either of those teams?
