Teams

So I just became aware that at this point in the game, there are still some programs where kids have NO IDEA WHAT TEAM THEY ARE ON YET!

Am I wrong or is that just insane?? Aren't most teams like, halfway through choreography by now?? I know some teams are already done with choreography! I can't imagine not knowing what team I was on this late in the game!

Hard To Say

My daughter joined one year (years ago) in September, and it worked out just fine. Our teams are in place, but they're still taking in new girls (for certain teams, not all). I see a lot of gyms that have it posted that they are still taking new members, so I think it works out okay. You can have all your teams in place early, choreography done early, etc... and still have a team that is not ready to compete. Right?

Right, but to have like, 80 kids and have no idea who is going on which team? I'm not saying just adding kids...I'm saying that at this point, no teams are made at all. Scary.

Ok, with hundreds of kids in our gym, we know right after tryouts what team we are on. Now we sign something that says that there can be movement and it HAS happened, but it's rare. The coaches pretty much know who can do what and where they will go.

sometimes not knowing for a while keeps the hype up. if you dont know what team you are gonna be on you work hard all summer so that you can make that team.

i understand teams being made earlier if they have choreographers flying in or coming from out of town. but since we have our coach as our choreographer we dont need to make teams until we start choreography in late august.

and plus its so much fun to know everyone in the gym!
