Okay bare with me everybody! I would love to see a true regional competition where the winner at each level advances to the state level and the winner of the state level goes to a true national competition.
Is this a dream?! Why can't this be a reality! No more controversy of this team flew out of state to go to this competition cause they thought they could get an easier bid.
The best of California against the best of the other 49 states!!!!
That would be fun!!!!
Let me know if this is a viable dream why or why not?
Keep dreamin, Hunny Bunches of Oats. That would be way cool but then no one would spend that much money just to possibly compete only once. But wouldn't it be way cool to see if there really was one National winner??? Yea, I know, it won't happen. But it's a great thought!

You are soooo right. I wouldn't spend that much money to be on all stars to compete 2-3 times. I like going to the different events and seeing all the new teams out. Plus this way gives gyms the opportunity to compete where they want, unlike other sports.
I meant that there was a true national out there. Not to get rid of all the other types that we attend. Keep what we have, just wish Worlds was more a representation of the various regions of the country. The true best of each state!
They do it in gymnastics. There are all the little invitationals and gym meets, and then sectionals, state, regionals, nationals. You have those 4 "important" meets but then there are other meets pretty much every weekend.
Another way to do it would to have all these "national" champions compete head to head at the end of the season.
I like the way you think "Dreamer"! Actually, I think there's a lot of people out there who would like to make this dream a reality. WORLDS is still a very new competition....and I think each year USASF is working, revising, evolving, etc. to make WORLDS a better representation of the very best teams out there. These days....just about any team at any skill level can say they are a NATIONAL champions....even if that team only had one other team in their division to compete against! Some National Championships truly are the best of the best while others, by the same name, may only be the best of a small county or region.
Ultimately, I think one of the aim's of WORLD'S is to determine what teams TRULY deserve to hold National titles, but considering the amount of National Competitions out there, it's quite a daunting task! Be patient, all-star cheerleading hasn't been around nearly as long as more established sports like gymnastics...just keep throwing those good idea out there!

Worlds is not exactly my dream. I think it is a step in the right direction though. You can still hop on an airplane and fly to a different state to get a bid. My dream is exactly how gymnastics is handled. Win your sectional, go onto state(and your program needs to be located in that state), regionals and than Nationals.
Wouldn't it be great to be known as the best in your state and to truly represent your state at nationals!
There are a multitude of reasons why that wouldn't (and shouldn't) work. One of the big ones is the fact that many of the top all-star teams already have people from multiple states on the same team. example - CA's (Cheer Athletics) large coed has people from 5 different states on it, including 2 from Oregon!
Also, many of the "second" best teams from a state are dramatically better than some other states' top teams. Why should those teams be restricted from Worlds because they compete in a more talented state? I want Worlds to be the best teams, not necessarily the "most geographically diverse" teams.
I also like seeing teams from other regions get to compete against each other during the year. If eliminated the incentive of a potential bid, it would eliminate some of the travelling teams from wanting to compete outside of their state.
Good points above! The only thing I would like to bring up the same thing can be said when it comes to the Olympics. There are some countries that have a wealth of talent in a sport and only their best comes to represent their country. They are representing their country. Remember this dream is not replacing Worlds, I think Worlds is great. This is just another type of competition similar to the Olympics.
Even the Olympics don't have equal representation from every country. There are not an equal number of athletes from every country that qualify in every event.
Again, you can do it just like gymnastics. In gymnastics, you don't necessarily "win" to go up to the next level of competition (state, regionals, etc). You also have to score the minimum baseline score to qualify. So the team that wins in North Dakota (or whatever) would also have to get, say, an 85 out of 100 to qualify to the next round. That way if there's 6 really good teams in like, Texas, that all "belong" there, then as long as they all score the minimum, they can go.
Worlds bids should work this way, IMO. Not only do you have to place in the top whatever number of bids they are giving out, but you should also have to hit a minimum score as well.
