Sooo...as the mom of a third place team, diamonds, (sm co-ed) the coverage SUCKED! Our team was shown for a few seconds, (long enough for the announcer to mention that we had one of the most creative routines at worlds) yet large all girl showed the full routine of the top 4 teams? What's up with that? I was under the impression that the top 3 teams in each division would be shown...well, I am totally bummed! Anyone agree?
I thought the presentation was great. I do agree they should of showed more teams from Small Coed. I was disappointed not to see all of Spirit of Texas's routine. Especially with the amount of teams competing in that division. California All Stars Small senior was VERY good. The west coast had good representation though. Lots of good teams. They barely showed any large coed as well. I wonder why that is. They should of reduced that lil blurb on international teams.
This show epitomizes why all of us LOVE all-star cheerleading. It is just such an amazing activity.
Actually I thought they did a great job of representing all of the great teams. I think being grateful for air time at all is where your head should be. I think all of the Cali teams looked great. Ca, Power small and power large and cheerforce all looked great. great job representing california in a positive way.
Congratulations to all of the teams featured on the World Championships today! It brought back the most amazing memories, I wish we could re-live it all over again. California was very well represented, we couldn't be more proud of how far our state has come. Way to go coaches, athletes and supporters!
Was it just us...or did you e-mail all your friends and family to tell them to watch?? We even had a big party for the team today! After the kids were told at their orientation that the top three teams would be on TV, I think we just assumed they meant the whole routine. But....no biggie! We waited 5 years to be on TV, so we'll forever remember our 15 seconds, just like everyone else!
ESPN = 15 seconds....but Diamondz are FOREVER!!
We LOVE our California Teams...WAY TO GO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why did it say that POWER was from "Northern California". Northern California is not a city , it's the part of the country and/or state. LOL I just thought it was funny. They looked good on the infinity commercials and the 20 seconds of each team.
So are we to deduce that ESPN thinks that all girl teams are better then coed? If they could not fit equal coverage amongst all divisions then they should have made the show into 2 hours? I have watched cheer compettions on TV that show novice and youth routines. I think world's is a big enough event to EARN 2 hours of show time!!! Next year they better have equal time for Coed, it's not like it is easier to do coed then all girl, they are all equally the same difficulty.
I thought the coverage was odd too - it was almost like they ran out of time halfway through and just started cramming pieces of performances in. We should have gotten to see full performances of the top 3 routines in each division.
Perhaps if they could have left all the fluff with Amanda Borden out...
Cali Allgirl, I loved watching you guys on ESPN2. You are REALLY GOOD. It was nice to see your whole routine, you must have made an impression on the ESPN folks too. GREAT JOB and Congrats!
Yeah, I think they can do without long interviews like that, it was ridiculous. We don't tune it to see that, we tune in to watch routines.
As we watched it, we were curious about this International Division. This probably has been explained before, but we didn't know what the topic was talking about until now, having watched it. Who from USA qualifies to compete in this division? What I mean is, it seemed to us whoever represented USA had a pretty good chance of winning, since teams outside of our country still have a ways to go to compete at our level. And we don't mean to be offensive, but the team that won, well, we were not that impressed with them and felt that they wouldn't have a chance against other USA teams. Maybe it's just the small amount of coverage shown. So how did that team (the one who won in the International Division) end up there? Was it open to anyone?
im not sure if we are talkin about the same international division, i didnt watch it but i was there, and if i remember correctly gym tyme won it... and they were off the hook... they were one of the first teams in general to rock the house during worlds because international went before the regular all star divisions. so from what i know they did pretty well and they deserved that win
No, it wasn't them. It was Georgia All Stars I believe, different division (but still International). We didn't understand why or how they were the ones representing USA in that division; we just wondered how that works. Especially since they did not do as well against USA teams. Agree about Gym Tyme, they were awesome.
Georgia won the all girl division and they were good. They open up with at least 10 girls doing 2 to fulls and they do 3 kick doubles in that routine. Its actually a very strong routine. I think both winners were very strong.
Is it the same team that came in 10th in the equivalent division (all girls) that wasn't International? I was curious too. And can anyone decide to compete in it?
"Definatly" and "Alex," you are both right. Gym Tyme won the coed International Division and Georgia won the All Girl International division. I was there, still havent seen worlds on tv, but i was there, and gym tym blew me away. Georgia was good, pretty good, but they didn't amaze me. With all the other teams that attended, there wasn't a reason that made me want to sit front row to watch them like i would for CA, F5, or Gym Tyme.
Just a thought, but I would guess five or so years from now the International Division will be truly competitive, and then we would need THE top teams in the USA to represent us -- not just anyone who decided to try for it.
It does seem we had that (USA's best) in the co-ed division, but maybe not in the all girls. Not to say they weren't good (GA), but they were not the top team our country has to offer in that division, right? But that will change down the road, hopefully.
