If you could manage the time and were able to afford it, would you be interested in cheering for All Stars in addition to your High School Team? [97 vote(s)]
Recently, Pyramids announced that they have a program guarenteeing to not conflict with the High School programs. Is this something people will be interested in in the future?
How about getting together with your local high schools and not competing at the same places all together or going to the same that host HS and ALL STARS?
I think it would be awesome to be able to do both. I have a daughter in HS and a daughter at Pyramids. In 2 years they could both be on the HS team Sr. and Freshman.t I would really like my yioungest daughter to continue Pyramids while on the same HS team as her sister. I really hope this can be accomplished!!!
Forgive me for not understanding. Why wouldn't all coaches want their athletes to be trained by the best is the bay area (cheergyms.com) compete at a national/world level and have the oppurtunity to show their school spirit at the same time. Shouldn't children be able to follow all their interests?
I went to our first booster meeting for a hs that is in its first year of allowing the kids to do both. You wouldn't BELIEVE the difference between the kids who have done HS or JrH only verses the All Star kids. But the parents were so worried about all of it and didn't understand how all stars is and run, so they were quite negative. But once they see the total difference between the old way and the new way, they won't be upset any longer. I can GUARANTEE it. They just don't know what they were missing is all. But they will. It's so obvious already.
Tumbling, ( all stars could all do tucks EASILY and the others could not, as well as some had standing tucks vs others couldn't even do hand-spr) jumps were higher and stronger in the all stars, motions MUCH MUCH sharper, A LOT less nervousness about tryouts, ability to learn the routine faster, putting on a performance when they tried out vs just "doing it", knowing what differnt stunts were and how to do them correctly, and more..... the difference in the experience in all stars was blantant...... the other girls have tons of potential but it was very very obvious who was from where.
Unless you live in Texas....High school cheer (CA) is not made for the hard core competing and if it is, its not the best! I love all-star cheer. I do both and I have to say, high school cheer has nothing on All-Star cheer.
Are you saying that HS Texas cheer is more advanced than any CA HS cheer team?" Is so, please tell us what cometitions TX HS enters so there can be some meaning from your comments because I know of some very good CA HS teams. Thanks
A lot of high schools in Texas are amazing! The requirement to try-out are ridiculous! I know because my cousin lives there and all she can talk about is the cheer teams. CA is getting better but sorry not up to pare!
I am thinking they are refering to what we already know about TX vs CA in the all star world. Cheer is LIFE there. They have more of a commitment than we do. And I would bet the high schools allow them to do all star also. But you know what? I will ask a few high school coaches who have been around the block or so to make sure.
And to be quite clear, EVERYONE knows a school or team or whatever that is great..... we all think our own teams are great. But there is always someone better. So no more getting angry over someones post. They are only trying to have a discussion.

You nailed it right on the head!! I couldn't agree more. I think especially in the technique of cheerleading and the performance factor. Many h.s. only cheerleaders do just enough to make the team and don't work on their skills. Also all stars is very performance driven so those kids will always stand out. Not 100% of the time, but you can ALWAYS tell.
