Financial aid??

Date:
help!!

Hi I am a high school junior who desperately wants to cheer at motions for my senior year. However with two syblings in college my parents said it is jsut too much. We heard about your great fundraising but my parents said they will be too tired to fundraise after work. I already plan on taking two summer jobs and working at every event that I will be able to but I do not think this will be enough. I am curious about any other forms of financial aide cheergyms may offer and I am extremely open to suggestions. Thank you so much.

Ask your local businesses to sponsor you. Go to the places you use...dentist, hair saloon, nail place.....ask every business in your area for donations.

Put together a sponsor letter with a picture of you in uniform and one from a comp with your team. Have your mom or dad help you write it and help you with who to send it to... relatives, parents' business associates, other people you know (doctor, dentist, etc.). I even sent an e-mail out to pretty much everyone on my e-mail list and asked for help. I put together a form that people could respond to that gave them a choice of sending a straight donation ($25 and up), whether they were interested in helping with a fundraiser (as a seller or a buyer), etc.

Make sure your letter has a simple idea that would make someone want to help you out - being a senior wanting to cheer your final year of high school who just needs a little help...with two sibs in college, etc. Also, if people respond even in a small way, make sure you say THANK YOU!!

Good luck!

There's a fundraising group that works the Shoreline ampitheatre concerts at motions, and at pyramids we have alicia and judy who arrange giants games, 49ers and concord pavillion concerts. I fundraised almost all my daughter's tuition last year. I think the minimum age to work is 16, if you're too young you can always ask friends, a lot of the time your friends will want to work for you because its actually pretty fun.
