because they want more guys and if they dont have to pay then they come. at my gym guys PAY :) its the same for all if you cant afford it or have problems they discount it for you
i think im about as confused as " But why?" is about why guys would get a discount or free tution when girls don't, or am i misunderstanding you, and your saying that tution to cheerforce is free no matter if your a girl or a guy, plz explain, because if it's only if your a guy then thats not really fair don't you think?
We decided to offer free tuition for our boys so that we can build up our Co-Ed program. With the exception of one boy in our gym, all of our boys are a brother of girls on the teams. Because we offer the waived tuition, the parents were able to afford placing their sons in the program. They still have to pay full price for uniforms, competitions, etc. And let me be clear, we in no way charge the girls "higher prices" to cover the costs of the boys. It seems to be working for us though, with just one boy on our team two years ago, we now have 20!
I understand that some people may not see this as fair to the girls. However, at this time everyone in our gym see's the value of having the boys in our program. I'm sure at some point down the road, our program will be strong enough to charge boys and girls the same amount.
Best of luck to everyone on the rest of their seasons!
I get your reasoning - you aren't the only gym that does this. But I wonder, down the line, when you want to charge those same boys to cheer, how that's going to pan out.
WOW wrote: If anything they should offer it to their great girls. Their boys are not even that good.
hmm well maybe we dont offer free tuition to girls cause theres goes a lot of money out the window you know? when you look at it guys 20 vs girls hundreds its a lot easier saying not tuitions for guys then girls you see? and thank you very much but i can tumble =)
and we do offer discounts to the girls at our gym if they have siblings cheering here also so everyone gets discounted one way or antother peace out got to go
In this day of equal rights for all, it seems like this cuuld be a law suit in the making. I you have a family who can only afford to send one of their two girls to cheer, do you waive tuition for the second or even third child? Just curious?
Never liked this!!! Guys being free! I don't care what anyone says. Don't be offended by this cheerforce or any other program that shares this philosophy. Your parents may say one thing to you and say another thing behind your back. I believe everyone should pay coaching fees no matter what sex or level of talent. Now if you are on a more advanced team who requires more coaching time that is another thing.
Build a strong program by reputation!!! I would love to hear from programs who have tried this and quit doing it. Are these guys just as commited as the girls? How do you girls feel out there about this?
i think this needs to be closed down. this can turn out to be the most negative one of all and could put cheer force out of buisness becasue of people talking about law suites. once again a simple question turns into a war. the wuestion was which teams give free tuition to guys not how wrong that is to do and that this isnt legal.
Oh, I strongly disagree, "i think". This is a topic that is worth discussion. It has nothing to do with cheerforce because other organizations do this as well. It has to do with how others feel about it, even if that wasn't the original topic. It's probably one of the best questions I've seen on this board and really should be addressed. Let's hear some justifications for it, maybe it will sway the way most of us seem to feel. Close the topic down, and it's like an admission something wrong is going on. Just my opinion.
The original question was which teams offered free or discounted tuition to guys? Then some wanted to know why? Well I do know that male cheerleaders put up with alot of ridicule there's also the stigma . You know if he cheers he must be gay. Nothing farther from the truth. Having a son who cheers we have gone both routes. Paying tuition and having it waved or discounted. We still paid for everything else. I feel offering some insentive for boys is good. Males have something to offer and we do need them in cheer. There are way to few. So if a program wants to recurit boys this way I see nothing wrong with it. I know there will be alot of woman and girls saying noway girls are as good or better then the guys. I think watching coed teams is really exciting. I know my son puts up with alot of stuff the girls give him.

Hey Hey, easy tiger... I was just asking, I didn't say the attorneys had the papers ready to file! ; ) I understand why a gym might want to do it, I am just suprised that other parents dont get upset. If family A has a boy and a girl and family B has two girls... why is it that family B should have to pay more than family A? If it is just beacause a family CANT afford it, thats one thing, but then it should be straight accross the board, regardless of the childs sex. I just think that sounds a bit off... I however don't have to worry about this because my son would not cheer if I paid him, nor would my daughter want to step on a football field (free or not). Both of my children respect the other childs sports choice, and attend eachothers games/comps. I just find it odd that this happens solely because of a childs sex. I know that none of my sons teams offer a "sibling free" pass regardless of how good they are or what sex they are. I think tomorrow at sign-op (for football) I am going to see if I could get my daughter signed up for free beacuse she is a girl, and our town could build a program! LMAO! Mom of two who pays full school, full cheer, full football, full basketball, full dance, full soccer, etc... tuition
This is a good topic. One hand, it's really NOT ok to give one sex a free ride simply because their body parts are different and the world can't get a grip on reality... On the other hand, I can see why a gym would offer this so they could truly compete in today's cheer world.
Maybe you could think of another incentive instead of giving the boys a free ride??? I can't think of a better idea myself, but I am sure someone can.
I have 3 boys and 2 girls. My youngest cheers. But he isn't free. I am wondering if it would be ok for him to be free or not. Very very good topic.
