The competitions we attend, and on that note, I have seen on these message boards where parents have indicated that they tell their gyms what comps they like and which ones they don't. How do you do it? Do your gyms ask for your input via some sort of written question and answer type things, or do you just walk in the office and say "I really didn't like that competition." Do gym owners really listen to our input? I would love to know because I was really kind of disappointed with the choices that were made this year as apposed to last year.
I don't mean between team mates, that's small potatoes and has been going on for years. I'm talking about playing favorites between your own teams! It is so obvious at my gym that the owner and some of the coaches like one team more than another and it's not about the level cuz we are all level 5. But it is very obvious and we all know it. We pay the same amount of gym fees but are treated so differently. Our coach supports us and trys to do what he can to make sure that we don't get the short end of the stick and we know that without him we'd be totally forgotten except when dues came around or they needed someone to help on one of the other teams. Then all of a sudden we are remembered. And whats worse, we are prob the most talented team there. You'd think the owner of the gym would try to build us up to get more people on the program but the owner finds ways to put us down all the time. The team is pretty tired of it and I don't know what purpose that serves but anyway, yeah I would change that.
We get a questionaire at the end of the season that asks us specifically about each coach, the dress code, the practice times, the gym itself, the competitions and more! Maybe that might be a good suggestion for your gym! We are always anonymous on them so we can really speak our minds! The kids get one and the parents get a seperate one.
I would change the fact that the gym isn't heated or airconditioned. But we live in SoCal so we are spoiled already.... so just ignore me!
