Only One Peformance?

I was just looking at the peformance order from Jamz. Many very respected programs are attending but I do have one question. As parents do you feel like you are getting your money's worth when your athlete only performs one time. Now a days all other nationals have two performance days. Jamz charges around the same if not more for their event and you only perform once unless you are vying for the Worlds Bid. Just wondering how the parents and cheerleaders feel about this. Does competing only once not seem like a true nationals or do you like it?

Once Is Enough

I'm a big fan of only performing ONCE. You have once chance to do your thing on stage, and you do it. I personally hate performing two days because things can happen after that first day (injuries, for example) and you just don't have time to recover. Also, I wouldn't mind it as much if both days counted EQUALLY ... I cannot figure out why there is more weight on that 2nd day, anyone know?? Why should you do great that first day and only have it count less than half? But that's another subject I guess.

I'm very happy only performing once! And Jamz needs to get a clue about not charging outrageous fees for both regionals and nationals, especially when there are so many other competitions to choose from.

Good luck to everyone in Vegas. We're excited to go!

And we go on at 12:01 AM on Sat/Sun......... our teams are spread out all day. But Friday ends at 4ish. Why on earth would they do that to our kids???? Move some to Friday. End it at 8 or 9 pm and then Sat wouldn't be so bad. BAD PLANNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree. I can't believe they perform so late! The well being of the athletes need to be considered.

My Guess

My guess as to why they are cramming all the allstar performances into one day (Saturday) is to save money (less days to have to rent out the venue). Performing after midnight is not only ridiculous but dangerous too if everyone's tired. Do you know of any other national competition that runs that late? Our little ones go on super early, we're all spread out too. So now we can't watch the little ones because we all need to sleep in if we're going to make it through the night. What was Jamz thinking?

Oh, didn't notice Friday ended early (4), so I have no idea why they couldn't move some allstar performances to Friday evening? Guess they wanted to keep the allstars to one day, but it still makes no sense. At least they did split up the awards, thank goodness.

I looked at the schedule and cannot believe that Jamz has such an outrageous schedule. I don't know about any of you all, but my daughter will definitely not be at her best at 10:30pm. She is older thank god. Can't imagine how the younger kids are going to handle these crazy times.

I am sooo disappointed!!!!!!!!

My daughter performs early on Saturday. I mean really early. If the teams have to be thier one hour and half before they compete to warm up I figure we have to get up about 4:30 or so just to be able to have to have time to get a breakfast before a very long day. And for what this trip is costing up ask me if I think it's worrh it.... NOT! Very dispapointed.

This is apsolutely rediculous!!!!!!!!!!! Jamz should not be cramming that many performances in one day.. any cheerleader i dont care what age is not at there best at either 7 am or 12 at night. and for how much we are paying this is definetely not worth it! Jamz really needs to consider this....

maybe the comp should be boycotted then, if so many people have problems with the scuedule...just an idea...yet everyone probably already paid, which sucks!

Yep most everyone has bought their tickets by now. Of course we could all go have fun instead! Ha ha!

The only way to fix companies from doing this is to not attend them anymore.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but teams that don't usually do Jamz Vegas are going this year, and my guess (although it could be wrong) is they're just going for the bid. Am I right? So they have more this year than usual.

But I completely agree about the schedule; how awful for the ones who have to warm up at 6 in the morning, and those who have to compete at midnight! Ridiculous.

What are they thinking?

I already did a post on this in another thread, but the bids that they are giving out probably won't have teams flocking out there to grab them. They are offering 1 paid bid to a large coed team, $10,000 bid to a large senior team and $5,000 to a small senior team. No bids in small coed, not even unpaid :(

Yes, but you look at the teams competing for the large co-ed bid -- CA All Stars already has one and will probably turn it down if they win, no? So even though the teams left are good (don't get me wrong), the competition isn't as tough as usual for bids. Motions or Pyramids has a very good chance of getting one at this competition. And they don't usually compete at Jamz (I don't think). So the fact that you have teams that aren't usually there, with the fact that some are competing twice (those going for bids) it makes for a longer Jamz day than usual, so they have to start early, end late. Of course that doesn't explain why Jamz couldn't move some to Friday! So still poor planning on their part.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I don't work for Jamz so I can't explain the reasoning behind the day. Although I hope the cheer parent that said the long day is only part of one or two rough spots in an otherwise exciting trip for their daughter is one of the parents at my gym.

I can however speak for cheergyms.com. We decided at the beginning of the year to bring our teams back to Jamz. Yes we did hear that they were giving away a bid and we were planning on bring the All American team to try and win that bid. We found out later that they were giving the bid to just a Large Coed team.

I'll be the first one to admit that the talent level of Motions Coed and Pyramids Coed does not match that of say a team like Top Gun, KY Elite, Cheer Athletics or some of the other top names in our industry. But I'm not going to apologize for that, nor will I feel bad if Motions or Pyramids or Oak Ridge or Clovis wins that bid, even if we do come second to CA. World's is an incredible experience and whoever wins that bid will live that experience to the fullest, that I am sure of. There will probably be some criticism, some people saying that they don't belong there...words along that line. And I guess to each his own. The bottom line is this; if you were in our spot you would take that bid and head on down to Florida in a heartbeat, regardless of how your team looks on paper.

Speaking for Motions, we have a lot to do before we even get to that point. But we've found the right path and have hit it hard.

Clovis Elite was 39 points behind the next lowest score of either 2 divisions when they went to Worlds. That being said, I'm sure they had a blast, no regrets.
