Travel to the Gym

I'm curious... How far do you drive to go to your gym?
For parents that have to travel a ways, what do you do while your child is at practice?
This is our first year in all-star cheerleading and I travel 35 miles (45 minutes) to take my daughter to practice 3 times a week. There really isn't enough time to go home and back plus who can afford the extra gas... I'm all shopped out and sometimes I just don't like sitting around reading a book for 2.5 hours. What is the limit you will drive to take your child to a good quality gym?

I drive 35 minutes myself and stay and watch the practice. I love to see the girls progress and love to know what they do and learn. I also love hanging out with the parents and doing crafts, making gifts for the other teams to give out at competitions, work on homework with siblings, etc. I am there for 4 hours twice a week, and 3 hours twice a week. I don't live all too far away but I find that I love "hanging out" with the other parents. Our gym encourages parents to stay and watch. I love it cause I get to see her progress.

We are lucky because we have an area with arcade games for the siblings. When our new gym is finished at the end of the month, we will have a room just for the younger ones to play, a room for the older kids to do homework and a place for parents to hang out and chit chat. I know a log of gyms can't offer that but it's a wonderful thing if you can. It's a family environment.

I travel 25 minutes to practice at school or at CA, and an hour to where I coach.

I travel 73 miles round trip to get to Colony. For me it gives me time to think and enjoy the water (I live on the Peninsula) and go through the hills-I am from the Chicago so it's still fun to see those things! My only complaint...I talk on the phone most of the time so my minutes go quick. Plus I love my job and the families at the gym so I really can not imagine working anywhere else-although Hawaii would be nice!

Go fish!

We drive 30 mins to the gym without traffic, with traffic (weekdays) usually 1 hr. We are in a carpool to decrease the number of trips. I like weekend practices so I do not have to rush home from work and then head straight to the gym because I work 30 mins away from home in the opposite direction of the gym. I usually read if I wait at the gym or try to do errands. This is okay since I do not drive 3 times a week.

I travel to Concord from Danville, it's not too bad it only takes about 25 to 30 minutes, but sometimes with the horrible traffic on 680 it can take an hour

I drive my daughter from Petaluma to Concord. I usually hit Barnes and Noble or go to a movie while she practices. The drive is 40 minutes on the way back. On the way there it can take over an hour or more with traffic.

When I was on focus, 2 years ago, it took me 30 minutes to get to the gym. Then, when I was on south bay it took me 45 minutes- 1 hour until I moved to Fremont, then from Fremont it took 35 minutes. On motions this year, it takes only 15 minutes and I'm still not used to how long that actualyl feels. Growing up in gymnastics, my gymnasium was litterally 3 minutes away. I wish Motions was jsut around the corner like my old gymnastics gym was! =P
