Question for Morton

Since some companies are giving out Worlds Bids so early in the season (Dec, Jan) how is eligibility to compete determined for members that joined the team later in the season? I've heard you had to be at the nationals where the bid was won. But I know for various reasons, people are commonly added to teams throughout the year. Would the new member be able to compete at Worlds or would they have to try to get another bid somewhere else?

From what I understand it is true that the same team that qualifies has to be the same team to perform at World's. I believe this to be true from talking to two athletes that performed on the California Allstar Senior Coed team in Vegas. I remember one of them saying that they needed to be in the routine when the qualification happens or you cannot participate. Obviously some athletes might not make it all the way to worlds due to injuries or what not but i do not believe that you can add anyone on at any time.

What do you think Morton?

This is an interesting question. Never thought of that. Anxious to hear Morton's response.

The answer is...

in the World's Bid packet. You can download it from their website. What the Cali team members said is pretty much correct. There are some other ways in which someone can be added to the team but it is way to complicated for me to write down tonight. But basically, you can substitute members but you can't just add on members. And those members that you sub on, must have attended the same comp. where the winning Bid was won at. So in Cali's case, if someone got hurt, they can put on a sub but that person must have competed at Am. Grand on one of their other teams.
