SPIRIT SPORTS - BATTLE BY BAY

The schedule is posted. It looks like some amazing california programs are attending. The Junior Level 5 division probably has the best teams in the state: Starz Extreme, American Cheer, Champion Outlaws, and California Allstars all competing against each other. Wish I were there to see which team can pull off clean routines on both days! Best of luck to all teams.

Looks like Spirit Sports has turned back into So Cal teams majority competition. I don't see any Nor Cal teams listed. Maybe next year Nor Cal can be represented. San Diego is a great location for a competition!

Good luck SoCal teams. Looks like a great group of competitors. Can't wait to see the results. But of course who knows how long that will take. They still haven't posted results from Jan 20 competition in Dallas. Guess we'll have to wait at least 2 weeks to see the results. Keep us informed since we don't have any teams from Nor Cal attending.

Well we had competed at S.S for the past two years. Parents and members LOVED it, but for some reason our organizations pulled out this year!! We are sooooooooooooo dissapointed! Maybe we will be back next year?
Of course I don't know, not that deeply into the whole "Worlds" thing....., but if S.S is not giving out a Worlds bid, well, that would be why our organization isn't going in my opinion.... don't agree, just my opinion.

It's a great competition!! Everyone going... HAve Fun!!

CA Small Srs, were next highest scoring team behind Cheerforce. It was a good competition!! Can't wait for next year.

I had a feeling Stars Extreme's Junior Advanced team would do well, they were the best I've ever seen, so clean, awesome. Nice to hear they came very close to first.

Stars is Good

They have a lot of talent but they didn't hit their routine. I think the 1st day they dropped a stunt and had tumbling errors and the next day, they were better but still had some errors in tumbling. They just need to focus and stay clean. Really close, but you can't make those types of errors againt CA, cuz they will stay clean and won't put skills in their routine that they can't hit consistantly. I got the impression that Stars had skills in the routine that they were hoping would hit.

American and Champion just weren't there this weekend. It wan't their best performance, well maybe it was, they were decent but they have some cleaning to do to their routines yet. Next time they all meet should be really good. Perhaps at American Showcase in Anahiem??

Thanks for the info. I haven't seen CA All Stars, I hope to someday. I don't even know where they're from (guessing somewhere in southern ca). When we saw the junior team for Stars, they appeared to have landed everything and took the highest score of the entire competition. But yea, it sounds like they'll need to do that again to beat CA. Sounds like it was a fun competition and exciting to watch.

Stars is good

CA is: California Allstars in the San Diego area. I think their website is:
californiaallstars.com

If Stars had not had the errors, the outcome may have been different but still very close. Those two outstanding teams were outstanding. California's Sm Srs were awesome too. Every year that I see them, I don't know how they do what they do. Talk about talent, they have it. Just awesome. Last year they did pooper scooper stunts and this weekend I saw 2 coed teams and their Jr team doing it but not as good as the Sr allgirl team did them. And what can we say about Cheer Force? Amazing! They wore some type of Elvis like costume on the 2nd day and were not only amazing but entertaining. Talk about crowd appeal. If it was on the score sheet, I'm sure they got a 10! All and all a well run, on time competition until awards, then it feel apart. Way, way too long!! But it was well worth the $25 for the 2 day admission. I hope that next year Nor Cal teams attend. Wait, but that would just make the awards longer. Never mind:)

Stunt Challenged

Okay, I am stunt challenged. What are "pooper scooper" stunts?

Pooper Scooper

Date:

A pooper Scooper is when the flyer is on the bases back, he/she grabs the flyers feet from between his/her legs and pulls the flyer from his/her back, thru the legs, up the front and back up to the top. Imagine swinging someone aroundyour waist. Now do that thru your legs, back to front.

CAis just amazing. They are the team to watch. American did well though. I am always impressed with them. Their parents are really nice too. Cheer Force is always impressive. Especially their Elvis routine. You can't see everything cause so much is going on!!!! I just love that!

There was a mixup with the awards for Senior Level 5 and OC got placed in spot that really was questionable. But I don't know what happened with that. I know everyone was pretty shocked though.

Junior level 5 was really really cool. Really great routines. My question of the day is.... why did I see some CA girls on a Junior level 2 team and then see them again on a higher level team??? They had "over qualified" girls on a much lower team and that was a bit disappointing. But I don't know what happened there either...

CA is in San Marcos which is about a half hour north east of San Diego.

Does anyone know the results of the Small Sr 5 division and any details about the mixup at awards?

Shocked

Date:

Yea, I was shocked. But I did hear the announcer say something about a challenge. So, I'm guessing that Magic or OC challenged a penalty that may or may not have gone their way.

I heard one of the Champion parents say that they had to re-do a part of their routine due to an illegal stunt squence that needed spotters.

There was no challange on our part. I don't know about Magic. And who had to redo a stunt? It wasn't us... but yes, we were shocked also.

Thanks for the support everyone!!!!

CA had a girl on Jr 3 as a base and she was a flyer on Sr. 2. I didn't see this as much of a threat, did you?

No,. not a threat..... just thought it was weird to have girls on an advanced team on a much lower level team..... I guess if it's legal, then why not do it, right??? I would think girls would stay within their level, but if you can get your best cheerleaders and put them on your lower level teams so you can guarantee a win, then why not???

Our gym won't do that. They don't think it's ethical. I have to agree. But a threat? Nah. Your team is only as good as your girls/guys. But sandbagging is pretty bad if you're caught by someone. It just makes your gym look kinda bad. But I don't make those decisions, so I don't have to worry. I wouldn't do it. I would want to win fairly.
