American Grand Bids to Worlds

According to Cheer Athletics message board Cheer Athletics Panthers won the paid bid to Worlds in the Large All Girl Division. Uppaid bids were awarded to Cheer Athletics Jags in Small Sr Division and California All Stars in Large Coed Division.

By the way, it sounds like the Cheer Athletics Jags are a Junior Advanced team that decided to compete in the Senior division. And they won an unpaid bid to Worlds. WOW!

Anyone out there see the competition?

I heard from a good source that Power took 3rd place in both Small and Large All Girl. Considering the competition that is incredible. Still haven't heard anything about SBE and where they placed.

It is true that Cheer Athletics won the Small All girl unpaid bid with their Advanced Jr. Team. I guess we're suppose to bow down or something? Not sure. While there's no rule against it, I doubt they'd dare pull that !@$% in their own region.
I just feel it is disrespectful to all of us on the West coast. Butttttt......Typical texas.

Jr vs. Sr

I have to admit I don't know the categories, but I was curious, are there also bids in the junior divisions, or just seniors?? If not, I can certainly understand why a junior team would compete in the senior division. Just as an observer at competitions, it seems like some of the junior advanced teams are more skilled than the seniors. Maybe because the younger girls are a bit more dedicated (less distractions that come with being older). But if there are equal bids for juniors, it does seem odd they would compete as seniors ... the only reason would be "because we can"?

There are no bids for Jr Advanced teams to Worlds. The USASF guidelines for a Senior team are 18 yrs old and younger. If you have a junior advanced team that is good enough to go against a senior team, why not? I don't see anything wrong with it. I've seen Cal teams do it before because their Jr teams weren't getting enough competition in the Jr division.

I believe the objective of Worlds is to determine the best of the best. If it happens to be kids at 14yrs old and younger...so be it. I want to see the best at Worlds no matter what the age.

I completely agree. If you have an awesome junior team this year, who is to say you'll have them again, so take advantage of it and compete at the highest level possible! It's not about age, it's all about skill.

Actually I think your wrong in this statement. Cheer Athletics took the majority of their junior team as "JAGS". If you watched closely, they had a couple girls compete on both Jags and panthers. In addition one of them was an amazing tumbler who has been on Panthers before. They had older kids on that team, although the majority of the kids were junior age. Even in our own area (Northern California) alot of senior teams have many middle school kids on them. In addition, they beat Extreme Cheer (4 time NCA champion) and Cheer Tyme (WSF at large bids winner). I think we are safe to say they can compete in ANY region and do well. Give CA their credit and leave it at that. I just think it shows how high level they have. I think the American Grand was a wonderful competition and was one of the true "Nationals" on the West coast with representatives from all over the country. Good job to alot of the programs. It was truely a competitive event.

yes southbay had 2 major injuries that weekend and a stunt group had to be taken out, despite that congradulations to california all stars! you are an amazing group, and as for us? we are just waiting for the next one!

Let's make sure we get this straight...cuz there were a lot of awards and a lot of great teams and we should make sure credit goes where it's due...

SBE's Jr Co-ed got grand champ in the junior co-ed division. There were 2 teams in the running for it; SBE Jr Co-ed level 5 and SBE Jr Co-ed level 3.

California All-Stars' juniors won the overall junior level Grand Champion award.

Cheer Athletics' Pathers won the actual "big" Grand Champion award.

And I agree that there is nothing wrong with Cheer Athletics pulling a senior bid with their junior team. They ARE that good, and they are not the only program in the world to put their junior team in a senior division to give themselves a challenge. It makes more sense to put them in a competitive senior division just for the challenge than to hang them out to dry in a division with only one or two other teams (or in many cases as is in junior co-ed 5, alone).

I don't think south bay's junior coed 5 team is trying to run away from any competition like you are implying...have you watched them recently? they definately have the skills, routine and scores to beat most senior teams. Usually that division has tough competition at the american grand, unfortunately this year it didn't.

Yes, please dont confuse or think bad about out jr coed level 5 team. They should be a sr. team infact. there amazing 3 doubles at least 10 fulls- at least ( i cant even count ) there stunts are all elite level 2 partner as well. They are just as good or not better then some sr. teams, 2 standing fulls. Our Jr. Team is amazing there defiently not trying to run away. there hasnt been any jr level 5 coed teams in our area or at vegas. There going to Dallas this year and they will defietly kick butt again level 5 jr coed. So please dont imply unless you really know.

AWESOME JOD TO EVERYONE @ American Grand!!!

Good Luck this season!

I agree, the jr.coed level 5 division is usually very hard, just this year it hasn't been in our area. With all the added divisions then its hard to always find a team to compete against. All of South bay's teams are VERY competitive so that shouldn't even be a question.

I am not sure how someone would know the scores from the second day, but I thought scores were mailed and no one knows the scores from day 2.

Just an update on SBE

Sr All Girl went Level 4(exel) and placed 4th

Jr Coed Level 5 competed alone and took JR COED grand champs, but there was only one other jr coed team and that was SBE level 3 jr coed team whom also took first competing alone

Senior Coed-2nd place

College-1st but competed alone

GREAT JOB!!

Do you think that gyms that have boys that are younger than 9th grade and have advanced skills are putting them on Sr teams instead of creating a Jr Coed team? Is that why we don't see very many Jr Coed teams? Or is it just hard to get the younger guys to do cheer? It's just a shame when you go to some of the larger competitions and you don't have anyone to compete

I hope we see more and more Jr Coed teams developed in CA. They are great to watch.

to SBE FAN-
in a way i inda took your post as a negitive. Why say that sr all girl went excel ppl dont need to know they moved down a level. The real reason is that they had to many girls to compete in advanced going for worlds. you have to have 35. and they had 38. And it is a little offensive saying "Jr Coed Level 5 competed alone and took JR COED grand champs, but there was only one other jr coed team and that was SBE level 3 jr coed team whom also took first competing alone" it is not there fault that they dont have anyone in there level. Dont make it seem as if it was planned like that. To be honest Jr Coed level 5 is probly the top team at southbay. they are amazing 3 doubles 2 standing fulls at least 11 fulls- or more. they are really amazing. its not there fault that no teams were in there divison. there going to Dallas this year to actually get to compete against some amazing teams. College also didnt have anyone in there level, and it was there 1st comp. Honestly you say your an SBE FAN but it really dosent sound like it. it sounds like you bashing more then nething. Anyways GOOD LUCK THIS YEAR TO ALL TEAMS!!! SBE ROCKS MY WORLD!! fun teams to watch.

That's not at all what I said. Some were implying that it was wrong for Cheer Athletics to put a junior team in a senior division so they could earn a Worlds bid - my point (which apparently was not understood) was that it is smarter to put a team up against competition, rather than to hang them out to dry on their own. An Worlds bid for CA's junior team looks a lot better than a win in a division with no competition.

Since we clearly have SBE people here...does anyone know what happened that their senior all-girl level 5 team went level 4 in Vegas? Did someone get injured or something?
