Scenario: You're competing in front of a huge crowd, a panel of cold looking judges, the music is blaring, the lights are blinding....but wait! you're halfway through the routine and a teammate gets injured from either a stunt or a tumbler. (s)he falls to the ground and doesn't get up.

Do you...
(A) continue with your part of the routine
OR
(B) stop and see if your teammate is okay

I found it to be a tricky situation...what would you do?

I heard about that (but had left before it happened). In my opinion, you gotta stop if he/she isn't getting up. Just working around him/her just doesn't seem right, especially if he/she needs help ASAP, you know? There will always be another comp.

Beacuse the team was already in "mindset of forward motion" in their routine, they only took another two or three steps in their routine before they stopped. that is what i saw from the bleachers. the right thing to do is stop. as tricky said, there will always be another comp.
most everyone knows, that if a cheerleader gets hurt, they will tough it out through the routine. but if a team member is down on the floor and not getting up..stop.
like any sport, the audience was with her in applause when she finally got up with assistance. we hope the young lady is allright, and wish her a speedy recovery.

Luckily, the girl is fine.

I too find it tricky. Her poor teammates were clearly a little confused. You could tell that on one hand their first instinct was to stop, hence the awkward pause. But on the other hand, as performers, they are repeatedly told no matter what keep going, so they attempted. I wouldn't want to be in that situation, but I think the girls (I believe it was an all-girl team) did the right thing.

I thought it was handled correctly by all. The girls tried to keep going for a couple seconds, and when they saw she was not moving they began to stop and the music and lights immediately stopped and dimmed so coaches could go and tend to her immediately. I thought AB and all involved did a great job, and the best part was the team got to come back at the end of the competition and perform again and they did great and went home with a trophy. I am glad to hear from Tamara that she is ok.

All i saw was a girl getting carried off on a strecher. Send my prayers to her! Did she just fall from a stunt or did she get trampled by a tumbler? May she get well soon!

The girl belongs on the Focus All Girl team....she got kicked in the head by a tumbler. I thought the girls dealt with it really well.
