I love them both for different reasons. High School my daughter got to be involved in her school, cheer on her schools teams. She was the captain her senior year with her best friend and had a blast. Allstar was all about competing and skills which was great to watch too. She loved both.
Agreed with both posts! Both are completely different. one is about the social aspect, games and school spirit. The other is purely athletic, competitive and skill driven.
to add to this topic.. ive came across some college coaches that dont agree w/ All Star's does anyone have any ifo as to why. i never really bothered asking as to why?
but after seeing their negative comments and interviews over all stars its gotten me pretty upset over it...
(i wont name any names)

@CheerAiintEnuff...it's not necessarily that college coaches frown on all-star cheer, they just like a girl to be well rounded...meaning having side line experience and cheering and leading a crowd. But if a cheerleader has AMAZING talents and comes from an all-star team, there is no way they are going to turn her away. Basically if you have the goods, you have the goods! lol Also if you're interested in cheering for a college/university competitive team (not a college all-star team) they compete on foam mats, which competitive high school teams compete on as well. All-star teams compete on spring floors so sometimes coaches like their cheerleaders to have that experience as well. But like I said if a cheerleader has amazing talent, she won't get turned away just cause she did only all-star cheer and not high school cheer. I've never heard of that happening. I've coached both high school and all-star and i've had girls cheer in college from both outlets.

That is funny you mention that because many of the great all star cheerleaders cheer at HPU, San Diego State, U of L, UK, Tennessee, Florida, and other colleges while having no problem. Most game teams don't throw combo passes through to fulls, they just do standing backs, and some running tumbling. I think they are just looking for good cheerleaders. Many all star kids cheer in college.

Exactly what I said..."if you have the goods you have the goods." A college or university would be dumb to turn away a cheerleader cause he/she cheered on an all-star team and not a high school team. I'm curious as to know what college or university CheerAiintEnuff is referring too. But at the same time i'll respect your privacy! :)
The final word is that it depends on the athlete. If they have what the coach is looking for then they'll make it. If not then they don't. Like I said in my last post, i've coached both high school and all-star and have had girls and guys go on to cheer at colleges and universities from both teams.

I think I understand what CheerAintEnuff means.. coming from a high school, all-star, and college cheer background, i have a completely different mind set when I'm at my all-star practices vs. high school or now college. When cheering for a school you have to realizes that They are two different worlds, but also one in the same. I guess if an all-star athlete with a double full didn't know how to turn on the "peppy cheerleader" attitude, they would not make it over lets say a girl with a single full, but has the most pep. That's the only way I could see an all-star cheerleader not making a college team. You have to be able to identify that they are different and be able to turn it on and off.
