try to tell yourself that there is nothing to fear but fear itself!! mind blocks are like walls surrounding your brain....break through the walls by proving to yourself that you can do anytjhing...also, that there are bigger things in your life to worry about than doin a back Handspring....basically.,..JUST DO IT, if you dont, you most likely wont until you gain some self-confidence!!

there really is nothing you cn do but keep trying to though it, it took me 5 years to get my back handspring, but it took me less than a month to get my tuck. one day it will just click and you wont be scared, untill then, the more you do it the better! i wish you courage! (besides whats the worst that can happen? you fall on your head... we ALL have and it doesnt really hurt)

Yes, the first one is always very scary. But what happens after that? You chuck yourself over and guess what happenes after that? That fear.. it's all gone!

That nike saying is the best way to describe it - just do it. Not only will you feel more accomplished after trying it, but you wont be afraid to try again.

ya, the best way to not be scared, is to just put the "what ifs" as far out of your mind as you can, and get a coach to stand there for you then slowly as your comfort with the skill grows have the coach/spotter slowly back away and soon you'll be able to do it with your coach on the other side of the gym not paying any attention to you comfortably

When I am learning a new skill in tumbling, I have my coach spot me until I get it, then have them slowly move away from me, until I can do it when they aren't watching. Thats how I'm getting my bhs! I reccomend doing your skills on the tumble track until you get them perfect without a spot, before you try to throw it by yourself on the floor!
