Attendance

Anyone else out there frustrated with thier teams attendance? I know it's summer but if your on a really advanced team why would you even commit in the first place? I know this is the oldest and hardest problem in all of cheer but I just wish I could be on a team where very person cared as much as I do. JUST ONCE! Are there teams like that at Pyramids or 720? I'll drive 200 miles if anyone can tell me where theres a team that is really commited to each other.

Maybe I should just do Tennis. Then I only have to worry about me coming to practice.

It is summer, but that is definitely no excuse to drop cheerleading practice. Why waste the money if you're not getting anything out of it?

I know at motions, barely anyone misses practice.. EVER. Occasionally an emergency might come up, and someone would have to miss a practice or 2.. but there's nothing you can do about that.

But if someone is missing practice, to hang out with friends, go shopping.. just lag. Than they shouldn't be on the team.. and they dont DESERVE to be on the team if they aren't going to commit to being there full time and showing up to practice on time.

That's why the rule of "# of absences missed" is in place. The coach needs to enforce that one in your gym. And if you aren't happy where you are, you are free to change. That's the great thing about America. Driving 200 miles is a bit harsh, but hey......... if you are that dedicated, then going to a gym that is dedicated would be worth the drive!!!! I think, as a parent who is dedicated to driving her child to every single practice, even when sick, that it also reflects on the coaches when the kids miss practice just to "hang out". Do you want those girls/guys on your team???? Do you just stand by and allow that? We all know when a person is really missing for a good reason or not. Who do these people think they are kidding?

They THINK they're kidding their coaches/teammates, but they are really kidding themselves. Things like this tend to work themselves out. Coaches notice it. Kids notice it. These people are looked down upon, and won't get as important places in routines, won't make advanced teams the next year, etc. And there are teams that have HUGE commitment levels. I know the kids on my brother's team (Motions Sr. Maroon) would rather go to practice over ANYTHING, and would give anything up to make sure they didn't miss. But what can I say, they LOVE their team, and they LOVE their gym. Everyone BELONGS somewhere, and not everyone will happy at every gym.

Good luck finding somewhere that you LOVE.

I agree with Amac.. when people are bored, they decide to go to Motions to work out. and they would give up their spare time to be there because its just a fun and working environment to be around.

And to quote "Attending" :

'And if you aren't happy where you are, you are free to change. That's the great thing about America.'

.. Isn't it a rule for cheergyms.com, that if you QUIT a team, you aren't allowed to go back to that gym, or any other cheergym, the next year or the current year?

Maybe i misunderstood that rule..

No, I meant leaving the program entirely. But if another cheergyms program is better suited for you, I don't think you should actually QUIT, you just move is all.

i completely understand what peerleader means i love my gym and program but some of the people on my team just don't seem as devoted to the team as me. I mean there are about four or five of us who always come to open gym and wouldn't miss a practice for the world, but then there are the people who to them cheerleading is just something extra they can do and if they miss a practice or ten it's just fine. I'm not trying to bad mouth anyone but it just gets on my nerves, if you're not devoted to your team 110% then don't try and be on a team and just take a couple of classes inside your program.
