I have made the all girl college team this year and I am really excited, however I don't think I can afford it due to some other major expenses this summer (like a wedding, and surgery). I REALLY want to cheer but I'm not sure what to do. I signed up to work some stuff, like camp set up, but wasn't chosen to work, I'd like to do the Giants games, etc. but still haven't received info on that...despite my request. It saddened me to find out that priority for fundraisers was given to those who work at the gym, why not give it tho those who really, really need it? If anyone has ANY ideas where to get some funding, or can sell me an old uniform please help.
While I know that cheergyms is not doing the summer fundraiser this year, I don't think there's any reason why you can't do something similar on your own.
This is what I'm doing for my daughter: Put together a letter telling the reader a little about yourself/your team and ask them to help support you in your endeavour (sp?). Bring/send this letter to businesses you frequent, send it to out-of-town family, open up the phone book and send it to local businesses.
Also, next time, I wouldn't bring your frustrations with what you think is priorities against you to the message board. Follow the chain of command on who sets up the fundraisers and speak with them directly. It may be that you don't respond as quickly as others, or sometimes when I leave a message I forget important stuff like a number to call me back at (or even who I am - yes, I've actually done that!), or the person in charge inadvertantly wrote your information down wrong, or well, you get the idea.
Last year BASE opened up our fundraising opportunities to the college team members. We currently work at HP Pavilion and Shoreline Amphitheater. If you would like more information regarding membership to BASE and working events please contact me via email.
I did speak with the person(s) who set up the fundraisers directly and tried to convey my need to use them, and I was on the top of the list for sign-ups. I am not irresponsible or trying to complain, just trying to find a solution so I can cheer. I mean good grief, I'm getting married I just need some financial assistance, I can't pay for everything out of pocket.
You know what? Competitive cheerleading costs money. Often times....lots of it. Whinning about how Danny & Morton choose people to work fundraisers is probably not the best move. Especially since they're once again made the team tuition free for the 7th year in a row.

You didn't contact BASE, which is specifically set up for Motions All Stars fundraising. Last season the All Girl College Team practiced out of Motions gym so we allowed anyone from that team to join in on the fundraising efforts. So, if you would really like information on fundraising you can still contact BASE.
Hey! maybe if your fiance doesn't mind - checks to cheergyms.com could be your wedding present ;)
Don't worry, I didn't think your intentions were to come on here to complain. I know it's frustrating when you're coming down to the wire about finances and you just need help. However, when you do write something "negative" it's here forever and for all to read without knowing ANY of the background.
I really wasn't trying to whine, I was just hoping to get some solutions. It's at the point where I have to decide whether to cheer (which I love, have been doing for years...you know, breath, eat, sleep cheer...that's me) or save for wedding, future costs, etc. I understand that fundraising from the gym is on a priority type basis and I know I can't work them all, I just hope for an equal opportunity. P.S. I did email BASE and got an auto response about screening mail, which I repiled to so hopefully I can get started with that.
First, I would like to know who you spoke to as Giants are open to all members of both college teams and cheerleader's families from cheergyms. Giants have been very frustrating for all of us this year. Due to their sad season we have been cancelled from working on several occasions. We do have the Chronicle Pavilion and the 49ers. I am dedicating the 7-30 to college team to work if they wish however I can only take 6 that are not TIPS trained. If you have any more questions concerning the Giants or other venues please contact me at jamo8487@hotmail.com to see what may work for all of us.
