Cheersport - A Celebration of Hope and Cheer

Thank You!

Thank you for your support of CHEERSPORT and for attending the 2010 CHEERSPORT Nationals.  At over 850 teams registered, this is our biggest event ever and we recognize that we owe any success we may enjoy to your support and your athletes support.  We do not take this for granted.  We understand how tough things are right now.  As most of you know, we own a gym in Charlotte and we have more people on scholarship due to financial problems than ever before in our 19 years.  Many of these are longtime members who could have never imagined needing financial help.  My point is, we understand how tough it is to be running an allstar program right now.  It makes us appreciate your support even more.

For several years, we have been trying to figure out a way to say thank you in a more meaningful way.  We think we have found a way.  We are going to have an event this year on Friday night at the Georgia Dome called A Celebration of Hope and Cheer.  We apologize for the late notice because we know this may complicate your scheduling. We will try to mitigate that in any way we can.  We are literally still planning the event but here is what will be announced in a couple of hours:

CHEERSPORT is proud to announce the addition of A Celebration of Hope and Cheer to their 2010 National Championship weekend. Held Friday night at the Georgia Dome, we'll start things off with a t-shirt exchange and sale at 7:00 pm and officially start the event at 8:00 pm. Planned activities include performances by a Special Needs team and the University of Louisville, and the 2010 So You Think You Can Tumble contest.  We are thrilled to have Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson as a special guest at this event. Shawn is obviously an outstanding athlete but she's an even better role model for our athletes. She will offer opening comments for the So You Think You Can Tumble contest and the winners of this contest will be invited to attend a private reception with Shawn. Peter Korman, the first American to ever earn an Olympic medal in Men's Gymnastics, will also be in attendance and judge.

You'll want to stick around after the tumbling contest because we hope to break the World record for the largest "mob dance"! Nationally recognized choreographer Jamie Parrish has choreographed a dance to a "re-mixed" version of "Pants On The Ground". Send all of your kids to www.CHEERSPORT.tv today to start learning this fun dance so they can join in the fun.

While free to all athletes, coaches and CHEERSPORT attendees, we are also using this event as a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and donations will be accepted.

As you can see we've really stepped up our plans for Friday and we could use your help in a couple of areas to make this event be even better:

  1. Please help us get the word out when we go public this afternoon and encourage your athletes and parents to attend.
  2. Please help us prepare for the crowd by telling us how many attendees you think your gym will bring by filling out this quick form: https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dE9PdUo1MjZ6QnJ0VFAyMVpUd1JKM1E6MA
  3. We need more participation in the "So You Think You Can Tumble Contest". We'd like to route as many people as possible through the official channels (http://www.insidecheerleading.com/sytyct/playlist.asp) but if that process is preventing one of your kids from signing up - please just contact CHEERSPORT directly and we'll help you through the process.

As part of the T-shirt exchange, we will offer gyms an opportunity to sell any "vintage" product they have.  In other words, if you have boxes of 2003 gym t-shirts that are gathering dust in a corner - you can bring it and sell it.  We don't think anyone would buy our stuff, but many of you have famous programs that other kids would love to have shirts from.  We would ask that you not print stuff just to sell.  We are doing this as an opportunity for you to clean up old inventory.  We know this will hurt the sales on our event shirt but we feel good about potentially helping our customers and making the kids happy.  If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity please register with CHEERSPORT by e-mailing Jennifer Lyons at jenniferlyons@cheerlogistics.com .  Jennifer will follow up with additional information.

We have consulted with several people about this event and would like to personally thank all of you.  You have been very encouraging and helped us decide to try and pull this off.  As always, everyone who we called to help was right there for us. We would like to specifically thank Jamie Parrish and the Georgia Allstars for their help with the dance, Randy Dickey at ACX for creating the "Pants On The Group" remix, James Speed for his willingness to showcase the U of L cheerleaders and Bill Presson for his counsel and ideas.

Thank you again for your support and please accept our apologies for the last minute nature of the event.  You all know we take great pride in careful planning and execution so this is really "out of the box" for us.  We were in a staff meeting earlier this week and we were all discussing that this was a great idea but there was no way we could pull it off.  Jeff Fowlkes then said,  "I personally believe God wants us to do this."  As you can imagine, that ended that discussion and we began planning on how to do it.  We will not try to explain why he feels that way in this correspondence but he will be happy to explain it to you if you happen to see him at Nationals. There are other elements to the program which we can not announce yet because they have not been finalized.  If you have any ideas that you think we should incorporate, please let us know because we are still developing the program.

If you have any questions or comments, please contact the CHEERSPORT office.

Take Care and God Bless You,
