The NCAA wants to wish everyone good luck as we begin the 2009-2010 Season! Representing over 30 gyms in the region we have been working together to insure that the 2009-2010 season is the best ever. Our hope is that every event in Northern California has depth of competition and outstanding sporstmanship. As you know, last season we introduced our NCAA Scholarship fund and 12 All Star cheerleaders received scholarships through the efforts of parents, gyms and event producers. This year looks to be even better! You will see a 50/50 Raffle at the NORCAL Victory Cup and a Silent Auction at the Spirit Spectacular event with the proceeds going to the scholarship fund. A huge thank you to the event producers, JAMZ, JamBrands, Cheersport, Spirit Spectacular, NORCALl Victory Cup and Varsity for making financial commitments to the NCAA Scholarship Fund! The gym owners are completely dedicated to providing these scholarships to cheerleaders in the Northern California Region. The NCAA also implemented a legitimacy committee. This committee reviewed and looked at how the members can set the highest standards possible for business ethics and sportsmanship. We developed an Athlete Verification Process whereby we verified all the athletes in the gyms and confirmed that they are the appropriate age for the team they are competiting with. This is a very time consuming effort and we are very proud of the following gyms for complying with this effort to demonstrate a true level of legitmacy to the age guidelines of the USASF. We want to recognize their efforts for going beyond the standards of the industry to assure the clients that we are complying with the rules. We also encourage everyone in the Northern California All Star Region to visit our website at www.norcalallstaralliance.org and review the NCAA Parent Letter. Our Parent Awareness/Legitimacy committee created this letter in order to educate the parents of our athletes about the NCAA and what our objectives are. Clearly, we strive to all be role models to these young and impressionable athletes and with competition season begining our hope is that we all remember to exhibit standards of behavior that will make those athletes proud. go to:
