I would like to know about the teams in elk grove and what their teams are. I think Fever has 2, Edge has 4, UCF has 4, and Royal has 2 this year. Several programs grew but some did not. Can someone confirm this? I bet NCAA could tell us? does anyone know?
Good luck Fever!!! were you one of the teams to get all the royals cheerleaders. or did they all just go everywhere. I hear there is only a handfull left. That is sad to see such a great program drop in numbers almost overnight. I am assuming this is because this is a new rebuilding year for them. In time if they stick around I am sure they will grow again.
I'm curious too, I know that some of the athletes that went over from XE are very talented and American had good teams last season so it's going to be exciting to see what they have this season.
So i am a bit concerned that the number of teams competing in the Small Senior 5 division is going to dwindle down substantially this season in local/state competitions. It seems like alot of the gyms are going the way of the Senior Open 5 division this year which is really going to have an impact on the Small Senior 5 division.
There is nothing more frustrating than paying all of the $$$, investment of time and travel to show up at a comp to maybe one or two teams in your division. As I have seen (and experienced) in the past, squads try to switch their divisions at the last minute so that they actually get more teams in their divisions. Cheer companies are also know to combine divisions where possible.
But I don't see how that is possible with this level 5 open vs. senior division. When you have a Sr. 5 team with tons of double fulls (prohibited in Open 5) its not like you can tell all of your double fulls to only pull singles and expect everyone to remember that! Is it fair to have to down-grade your hard earned skills just ot have squads to compete against so that you can walk away feeling like you EARNED the trophy and it was not a "default" win???? Also, with the Open division, you will have lots of "itty bitties" that aren't age eligible to compete at the Senior 5 division so you can't change divisions in that case either. And would they be willing to take a squad with only fulls up against a squad stacked with doubles??? Not to mention that the open division allows up to 4 males.....
Is it only me that thinks this Senior Open vs. Small Senior 5 is going to hurt the competitiveness in level 5????? NOt sure what to expect this season.

Okay, here's part of a list of Small 5s that were on Fierceboards. I added other local gyms that I know had a Small5 last season and a few more that are new and may be fielding Small 5s for this new season. I also added Open 5 so that we can compare. I know that Cali and CF have gone Open 5 instead of Jr 5 at their main gyms but still have Jr 5s at their other gyms locations. Nevada and AZ have been added because they're such close neighbors that we're bound to see them throughout the season. I apologize in advance if I left any gym off or spelled the name incorrectly. This is an open invite to make corrections, add or delete to make our list complete.
Overall, I think this is a pretty good showing for California / west coast teams. Small Sr. 5 AZ Power CA Bullets California Flyers Cheerforce Simi Valley Cheergyms.com Desert Storm Elite Envy Fierce Allstars Nevada Elite OC Allstars Orange Crush Pace Pacific Coast Magic POWER Spirit Athletics Victory West Coast
Senior Open 5 Airborne Allstars Athletic Perfection CA Bullets Cheergyms.com Cheerforce Allstars(All girl) Cheerforce Allstars(Coed) Desert Storm Elite Fierce Allstars Nor Cal Elite
Best of Luck to all teams this season. This is gonna be a great season!

I really dont think that you will see a drop in Small Senior 5 due to the Open 5 division. The same Cali/AZ and NV teams still have small senior 5. On the comment of 'ittie bitties' where do I get those....hahaha, all of my top girls are normal senior age sized so we dont have an advantage with smaller ones. For us we decided to go open 5 as we did not want the stress of worlds when we are not quite ready yet. Senior Open 5 is a great division and from the looks of it it will be popular up here.
Definately agree with you on the no crossover from sr 5 to open 5. Interesting to see how much of that will be happening this year......Nothing worse than thinking you have just watched the exact same squad completing in two different divisions!!!
I also agree with the no crossovers from Open 5 to a Worlds 5 team, I truly believe that this is a building skills division and I really hope it does not get like that. I am pretty sure up in Nor Cal their is only one program that has a Senior Open 5 and another level 5 team in the program. I am not sure if they cross kids over. Can't wait till all of the fun begins!!!
