In 2010 Levels 5 and 6 may be offered at any of the 2010 end of season, multi-brand events with the following USASF restriction: A gym can not send a team to compete in the same division at The Cheerleading or Dance Worlds and a 2010 "end of season, multi brand event".
I think this is great, it really gives teams that are striving for a goal but are yet to be ready for Worlds! I hope that this will maybe take away some of the pressure of getting that bid, hopefully coaches that know that their teams are not 'Worlds Ready' will now be able to give their kids a new goal, keeping the season positive instead of setting their kids up for a dissapointment when they do not or would not make finals.
I love this. I truly hope that gyms will take advantage of this. With that being said I also hope that the IALC will boost their entertainment value at their event so kids feel that they have worked towards something important and worth it. =)
I agree, this is good for level 5 teams not quite ready for worlds. But what exactly is the title should they win something like IALC, best of the level 5 teams that were also not ready for worlds? Just saying most sports dont separate their awards like we do; they dont cater to the "not ready for prime time" like we do. Are there similar types of rules for gymnastics, or ice skating?
I hope that level 5 teams continue to push to be the best by going against the best; otherwise its more about performing than competing, right? Feel free to tell me if Im off base here, I can take it.
Yes, something like that would be great (NIT), but in reality we dont have that either because there are two end-of-season all level championships, and possibly because of the inexcusable mistakes IALC made here in California there are large gyms who are opting not to go to IALC and are choosing the other. So its even more watered down. I just dont know why we keep moving away from the competition part of competition cheerleading, we seem to be moving in the opposite direction.
Hey Acedad.....who is going to regulate this? I wish the person they would give this job to would also start working on a checks and balance system for making sure all athletes are certified and age legal for their division. =)

In cheerleading, we're all self regulating, so I don't think anyone really needs to worry about it.

Your Joking, right? Self regulating? No, there are some gyms still going to comps and NOT playing by the rules when it comes to age and divisions. Then, when you turn those gyms into the Event Producer, nothing happens. Lets just say, I'm not a big Canadian fan!
