I agree with you. From what it appears from those who attended IALC it was basically a rush job cutting into a market already developed by the NLCC. Remember prior to that Varsity had no professed interest in a championship for anyone other than Senior level 5. Worlds was (and is) their baby and they wanted all attention and drive by the athletes on that. It appears that a true lack of interest in a great "true" National Championship for the athletes who are not blessed to be competing Level 5 yet (other than making money) carried over to it's production and awards of the event.
US Finals at VA beach had over 600 teams there. It was chaos (the good kind...lol) from beginning to end. Staffers were great, most being executives for represented competition companies and the others gyms who were not participating. Any questions were respectfully handled and addressed. Combined with the numbers that attended the other venues they had around 1000 teams. However when you look at that in comparison to who qualified those who attended only represented 10% of those invited. Overall I was very well impressed this year with US Finals. My guess is they will try to beef up the numbers at the other sites. The way IALC handled their first shot at this market may help those numbers go up some.
