1.) Have you tried talking to your parents, team mom, gym owner or the coach about how you feel? Sometimes voicing your feelings can start a healthy discussion about what the real problem is.
2.) Do you know if you will be coached by the same person next year or is there a possibility that you will have a different coach?
3.) Is there another gym within a reasonable commute distance you can go to?
If you are really as unhappy as you seem, you should do yourself and the coach a favor by talking with your parents and asking them to get involved by setting up a meeting with the coach and gym owner. If you feel your coach is being mean to you specifically, perhaps they have set a high expectation for you that you can't live up to, or perhaps the coach has never had someone speak their mind and tell them how much their actions/style of coaching affects your (and potentially other athlete's) desire to cheer.
Don't be scared, be constructive/terse and everything will work out...or you'll just go to another gym ;) It's not the end of the world either way.
He just yells all the time at us. It is not fun anymore. My mom says he won't change. She wants me to leave because he probably will be my coach again. There are other gyms we can go to. I just really like my friends and like being with them.
Well is there a reason why he or she is yelling at you? Like, your not doing your job, or your always talking and being disrespectful? It also depends on what team your on, if your on a level 5 team and your going for a worlds bid or etc..then usually the coach has high expectations for you. Like they say, if you want to be respected you have to give the same respect back. I don't think coaches have favorites but there going to respect the people who respect them. Your best bet is to talk to your coach. Going to another gym won't help you in the long run.
Perhaps your coach does not realize he is upsetting you. I would first stick it out another week and see if there is a reason he is yelling and if you can help fix it. But if he is yelling just to hear his own voice than you may want to speak to the owner or the coach himself. Or maybe there is someone else you know who feels the same way? Maybe you could work though it together
Go check out the other gym.... Maybe you will like it.....meet new friends and still see other friends at competitions... be happy....it is not worth it!!!
