honestly, nelson, cause he knows what he's doing and he is there to get the job done even if its not all fun and games. also because he is funny when he's not trying to be. but that's just my opinion even though he isn't my coach!!
I think that Jason from 720 has to be my favorite coach becuase the way that he such a great dancer and how he knows how to have fun with all of his girls and guy. He's the best and he's such a great choreographer.
1. Jason - he is always on time, if not early. He encourages us to be the best we can be. He has shown us how to achieve perfection in a routine and still have fun. He is physically active with us when teaching or changing a routine. He has taught us the true meaning of respect for cheerleading and others. Yes he is our coach - friend and mentor.
2. Lori - She is always there for every team. Not just the juniors. She helps ALL the girls with make- up - straightening Bows - makes sure shoes are tied tight. - makes sure all cheer apparel is on correctly - she is every girls best friend. She is wise beyond her years.
3. Monica - She is there for everyone. She is our glue at the gym. She organizes everything. We love her. She helps all the teams. She encourages us to be us and to do our best.
I would have to say Morgan at Focus. He has taken a group of Senior Prep girls and taught them to "believe" in themselves. It isn't always about the skills that are learned on the floor but those that can be taken and used off as well and Morgan teaches that week in and week out.
My favorite coach was Danny (when he coached Sr. Int. last year). Yes, he was tough, and yes after some of his practices I thought I was going to drop dead from exhaustion, but Danny is the kind of person who you walk away from a conversation with feeling good about yourself. You are missed on Senior Intermediate Danny!
well i have to say Maritza loyola is my favorite coach!! most of you probably have seen her.... you know the the little tiny one that coaches for Illusions! yeah that's my coach!!! she's the best! i had never done competative cheerleading before and when i started 2 years ago she was the one that taught me everthing i needed to know! yeah i was a former gymnast, but it was hard to get used to the all the motions and smiling all the time stuff! lol but now i'll be moving on to a new coach and i just want her to know that she made me the cheerleader i am today!! so thankyou maritza!! i luv u!!! thanks 4 being there!
All the coaches I've ever had at Pyramids have been amazing! I love u Edgar, Cassandra, Katy, Derick, and Mary but I'd have to say that Danny was my all time favorite! He just was really good at motivating us and breaking down skills when teaching them and you could really tell that he cared about our team.
DANNY: was the best coach for Sr. Int. last year!! We ALL loved the fact that he is very competitive and really loves to WIN!!! He gave our girls the winning attitude, told them that they could do it; they just had to really WANT it and if you want something bad enough and really work hard, GREAT THINGS HAPPYEN!! However, at the same time he did care about the girls on his team. AND I DON'T KNOW ANYONE THAT WILL FORGET USA NATIONALS & THAT DANCE!! BAM!!!! (like Emeril) BAM!!! It was so awesome!!!
DERICK: He is such an awesome coach, and he can teach the kids SO MUCH, yet keep control of his team, be tolerant & patient. He also treats people with respect. Not many can say that they are respectful of people EVERYDAY like he is!!! That's hard to do day in and day out with all the complaining & drama that happens with 10,000 children, teenagers & parents in your office EVERYDAY!!! ; ) GSSA COACH OF THE YEAR FOR SURE!!!!! WISH I COULD VOTE!!!!
MARLON: Now here is a man that has come a long way both personally and professionally. I was there when you first walked into the gym and I see you now. Your tumbling, your coaching, just YOU have grown into this absolutely incredible person (all-around)!! You are always so NICE!!!! I love that about you!!! Not very many people are nice anymore, but it makes you STAND OUT!! Especially when it comes to trying to teach the kids how to tumble. You don't seem to feel the need to put the kids down and make them feel bad when you are trying to get them to learn a new skill or improve on what they are doing already. I wish everyone could be like you!!! PROPS TO YOU MARLON!!!! ; )
I must be tired. . .I meant HAPPEN -NOT- HAPPYEN!!!!!
OH!!! ALSO CAN'T FORGET ABOUT MORTON!!!!!! SO SORRY MORTON!!
MORTON: He is the key to a lot of the success of Pyramids, and cheergyms.com I think! Because he has a way of communicating to the kids. After all that's why we are all giving him our money ; ) because of our kids!!! ; ) LOL He is also obviously a very good public speaker, with a lot of knowledge on the subjects of dance & CHEER!! He's always jetting around here and there an every where!! You've done well doing what you love Morton. Not many people really LOVE what they do for a living. This suits you so well!!

I TOTALLY agree .... 720 has some AMAZING coaches!! I wouldn't wish for anyone diffrent besides these three!!! Jason is out of this world, he helps everyone and is the reason we are who we are as a gym and as individual cheerleaders. He is the best coach I have ever MET!! WE LOVE YOU JASON!!! Lori is just amazing. Even though she is the coach for Junior Prep, she helps EVERYONE and ALWAYS encourages EVERYONE to do their best PLUS she puts up with all of us, haha lori you know we all love you!! She is one of the best coaches ever!! Monica IS the glue to hold those 720 walls together (and our roof.. oh man when it rains.. i think the roof is going to cave in!!), she is AMAZING. She deals with every single cheerleader and parent in the gym (believe me, sometimes the parents are better whiners then the cheerleaders!!) and she gets all of our flyers and bullitens together and holds 720 together!! WE LOVE YOU THREE SOOOOO MUCH!! THANKS FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE FOR ALL OF US!! YOU ARE APPERICIATED MORE THEN YOU WILL EVER KNOW!!! THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!! KEEP IT UP!!
I would have to say that the staff at Pyramids is consistently outstanding. I wouldn't want to single out just one, so I pick a former coach of my daughter's...Carly from Pyramids. Carly was a wonderful role model. She was unflappable as a coach, and got the most out of the team, along with her assistant coach, Carrie. She became my daughter's coach, friend, and mentor. They still keep in touch to this day. Carly was on Pyramids college team while coaching and going to school. She graduated from SF State, and now works for MTV as an associate producer. Because my daughter admired Carly so much, she is now following in her footsteps, and is going to SF State in September to pursue a degree in Broadcast Communications. Carly has been a huge positive influence on my daughter, not only in cheer, but in life. Thank you, Carly!
I loved all my coaches at Pyramids!!!!! But id have to choose EG, Cassandra, and Morton (when he coached the Jr. novice team). I miss them being my coaches!!!! They were all very motivating and could still have fun while getting things done.
Every coach that I've had at Motions ROCKS! I came to cheerleading and Motions with a standing tuck, a layout, and a pair of Van's skate shoes to wear to practice, and left with an Individual National Title! That says something about the coaching. Not to mention, when I left gymnastics, I hated to work hard, and I hated tumbling, and the coaches turned it around and made cheerleading my PASSION.
Kimi, Rana, and Michelle have to be the best "balance" to Nelson's coaching. Each one of them is patient, and have an eye for little details to help fix whatever might not be working. And each one of them knew the girls on a fairly personal level, making it easy to go to them for problems at home, school, or where ever. You always knew, going to practice, that someone was going to be there for you. Motions is a place to leave the real world behind, and be around in a place you love with the people you love, and this is in LARGE part to these three women. I can very happily say, I'm now friends with all of them, and it is so great to know that they are STILL there for me.
And of course, Nelson. Many people love to criticize what he does, or how he does it, but I don't think any of these people can trully say that they've experienced Nelson. What do I mean by that? Nelson is a tough person to be coached by. He expects nothing but the absolute best from everyone of his girls, (and next year, his guys too!) and he strives for perfection. Many people take this as a "win at all costs" attitude, which doesn't describe him in any way. He genuinely cares about the health and the happiness of his girls. He'll take a deserved loss. He used to say to us, "You know what guys, they were better then you today. You did you're best, but they were better on the floor today." He never makes excuses. He only wants to beat teams when they are at their best, hedoesn't rub in victories he has over teams because of mistakes that they made. I came to Motions as a gymnast, with only a layout and a standing tuck. Nelson took the time and was patient, it took two years, but he taught me my full, spotting me time and time again until I was comfortable enough to do it. He never pushes his girls to do skills they're not ready for. He takes time to teach. Like I said, people love to criticize him, and he just takes it. After being coached by him for three years on a team, and working for him for a year, you can trully tell that Nelson loves what he does, and thats the best thing about him. Smell-son, thank you for EVERYTHING you've done for me and taught me. I'm going to miss you and Motions SOOO much next year. No matter what happens, where I go, or what people say, you will always be my favorite COACH.
