I'm sure it will be fun, but it's too bad more gyms are not attending; too many divisions going against nobody. I wish Jamz would combine their San Francisco regional with the one in Stockton, and just have one in either location. They would have a better turnout. They seem to go from feast to famine, or famine to feast I should say, in that their regionals aren't well attended but you'll find plenty of competition at their Nationals. Good luck to those gyms attending.
It was a really great turnout with lots of competition in most divisions! Congratualtions to Nor Cal, Cheer Odyssey, Rebels Elite and Gold Star!!
Awesome Job ladies and Gents!!!
This venue was very on schedule, nice entry price, nice seating, wonderful weather, great location and was over by 4pm!! Love to attend JAMZ venue's always lots of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't care for the song selections jamz plays in between performances and awards - Pink's "you and your hand" was quite in appropriate.
I have noticed Cow Palace is ALWAYS cold even in the nicer months. It was even sunny and semi warm outside and freezing inside.
Some times I question JAMZ music selection also, however, lots of teams compete to the same songs. Where do you draw the line?? Even though the actual "bad word" is bleeped out we still know what it says! I heard some non bleeped "bad words" in some of the hip hop teams music. Do coaches not pay attention??
Overall a fun day!
CO impressed me so much. They really bring their A game in all levels and are very true to level with skills. I enjoy their routines.
Nor Cals Sr 5 dance was hot!!!
I was so happy to be home and in bed by 8pm!! hahaha...
I definitely agree about the temperature being ridiculously cold throughout the competition, however any outlandish complaints were delineated by how well the competition was run. There were no long waits and the schedule went according to plan, at least from my perspective.
There were many great showings today and I am definitely impressed with how far many programs have come since the beginning of the season.
Nor*Cal: Love Love Love their flyers in the air. They all execute their skills really well and had a pretty awesome showing today. This program always has a few standout athletes that are really fun to watch and make difficult skill sets look effortless, i.e. the switch kick double from the center flyer...FLAWLESS!! GREAT JOB NOR*CAL!
Aerials: I have never seen this gym before and was totally impressed with their energy and sharp choreography. I especially liked their transitions and choreography throughout their youth tumbling section. Their routines are without dead points and maintain high energy throughout. This will definitely be one of my new favorite teams to watch!
Rebels Elite: They by far had the best crowd of the day and their minis were fantastic! Super SUPER clean, and kind of remind me of that old school UCA style of cheer with some new exciting twists. Their routines have progressed in difficulty over the past few comps and I can only expect that they will get better as the season goes on.
Cheer Experience: Really really clean performances and great tumbling technique. For a newer gym they definitely seem to be off on a great start.
Gold Star: I didn't get to see much of their cheer teams but I LOVED their dance teams!
Cheerzone: They had the first 4.2 team I've seen all season, and I really liked it. Hopefully more gyms will come out with this division and really push the level 4 stunting bracket.
Cheer Odyssey: our kids had a lot of fun today, and at the end of the day that's all that really matters to me! Great job today guys!
overall, I think my favorite part of the comp is reading the score sheets because JAMZ's by far are the most comprehensive and helpful. They really illustrate what particular sections need work and help coaches to make changes according to what a judge really wants to see.

can't wait to see everyone next weekend
best* coach B
I have to agree Coach B... I was excited to see some new teams and old teams really bringing their "A" game yesterday! I would like to add to the list of skills portrayed here for Cheer Odyssey.
Cheer Odyssey Jr. Pom Team: Wow! They had beautifully clean heel stretches, fancy foot work, strong synchronization of foot/arm work) by most of the team at a fast pace, with multiple level and formation change, to create lots of visual effects with seamless transitions. Music is well used and moves are creative, nice variety, and very appropriatefor intended audience. Classic, Creative and Clean! Awesome Job!! Only suggestion: I think they are a Jr. Pom team, right?...maybe add a few "tiny dancers" in there :) They always add a little sparkle!
Tiny's: Although the music stopped they kept on going and the crowd adored that they did NOT get discouraged and were chanted by the rest of the cheerleaders to keep on going!!!Nice implimentation of skills. Too CUTE!!
Mini's Level 1: Looked nice, love the dance.... would like to see maybe some front walkovers, Two leg preps and more thigh stands with straight cradles.. overall, very good!
Youth Level 2: Perfect!!! Don't change a thing... they are really clean, nice jumps, nice standing/running tumbling, stunts and pyramids...true to their level!!
Junior Level 4: Enjoyed watching them, love the stunts, pyramids, maybe add more kick fulls, full up toe touch's in your tosses. Loved the pryamids single flips and inversions!
Senior Level 2: Loved the routine in San Jose better than yesterday's performance! Love..love..love... the ending!! Tumbling a bit scattered. (your little tumbler is good!) She works her facials...cute! Dance is very clean with lots of fancy foot work...nicely synchronized! Love the dancer with the ballet move during the dance! Stunts needs some work, but overall... very GOOD!! Love the Little Flyers!
Senior Level 3: WOW!! Amazing!! Very fast paced routine, nice choice of your front line of girls, they know how to work the crowd, very difficult routine, the dance was one of the best I have seen this year!!! Love the back to back excitement this team offers throughout their performance! This team offers superior form and technique! This team offers the WOW FACTOR!!!
Great Job Cheer Odyssey and Congrats on WINNING the JAMZ EXTREME GYM AWARD!!

omg thanks so much for all the suggestions! At this point in the game it always gets a bit challenging to know what else in a routine needs to be changed/reworked/fixed/taken out/ and even put in. I wonder if many other coaches go through the same dilemma.
I find myself asking: should I change a certain part? Is this new stunt necessary? Should I play it safe or really try to go all out and risk deductions?
So many questions (and sleepless nights) go into making a routine what it will become at the end of the season and each one is significant from issues in regards to formations to entire dance sections. Every year I can only hope that I will get better at making those crucial judgment calls that can make a routine better, however despite my efforts, I always find myself a bit challenged.
Anyhow, I really appreciate your comments and am glad you enjoyed the fruits of all our hard work. It seems like pleasing people is always an uphill battle, but luckily I've got my boots on and don't mind making the trek LOL.
once again, good luck to everyone, and good job to all the teams that competed! see u all soon!
This competition was so much fun! Yes, it was cold, but it was worth it. I was so impressed by all 5 teams in the youth level 2 division. I would not have wanted to be a judge in that division. All 5 teams weere amazing, they each brought their own flair to the mat, all the routines were different with a lot of strong choreography that really showcased what they could do. Aerials extreme was awesome. As always, NorCal is great to watch in all divisions. Great job to all the teams!!
I looked on JAMZ website to see if they were posted yet... NOT YET :(
Maybe Coach B will post the results??
I usually write the results down as they are called out but didn't this time
I believe??
POM went to Cheer Odyssey
I know Arials won some 1st places
Rebels Elite won a few
Cheer Odyssey won the Youth Level 2, Senior 2 and Senior 3, not sure about their Mini's and Junior team...they may have taken 2cd?
Nor Cal won more than a few 1st places, I think they beat CO in their Junior Level 4 and CO took 2cd... Not sure though... as soon as JAMZ post the results I will post them.
