this dosent have anything to do with cheer gyms college team lol but i didnt want to start a new thread for this question. When do gyms usually stop accepting new cheerleaders? I quit all star to do my school team and so i have more team to focas on school, but its not cutting it for me. I miss all star so much. I just turned 18 so i can do a senior team or i can do a college team. Are all star college teams as competitive as all star senior teams? I dont think have ever seen one lol

don't mean to throw this thread off-topic even more, but wow i'm like in the same situation as you. i'm 18 and stopped doing allstars to focus on school. didn't join school team though b/c i knew i wouldn't like it haha and our school team isn't very good, don't compete or anything. now i miss allstars a lot. i think some all star college teams usually don't practice as much as senior teams and it costs less. my problem is i also don't have level 5 skills and college teams are level 5 and 6 right? and by college teams, are we talking about the international open division?

well, I am not a gym owner -- but it seems from what I have been seeing at many gyms this year is the 1/2 year team. That might be an option for you. It seems most of these 1/2 year teams just started practicing, so I would assume (I know my bad) that you could still join.

Not sure what area you are from, but One Athletics has a college team that is still accepting new members. They practice one day a week on Sunday, not sure of the time and I am pretty sure you don't have to have level 5/6 tumbling skills. I believe the reason college teams are classified as level 6 is because of the stunting, not necessarily because of tumbling. Someone correct me if I am wrong.confused

What is the difference between an OPEN team and a COLLEGIATE team?

Open Teams are ages 18+, only Level 6, not a World's division.
Open International Teams are ages 14+, Level 5 and 6, a World's division.
Collegiate Teams are affiliated with a College or University, member's must be students at the school.

Some Open teams also compete as Open International to qualify and compete at World's.  It just depends on the goals of the gym and the team.

Hope that helps!
