so im doing a persuasive speech on monday. My topic ALLSTAR CHEERLEADING not high school or anything other type.. is a SPORT!... give me some good supporting arguments or resources. Id greatly appriciate it
wow what a great topic. i would talk about our routines and what type of skills they require and i would compare parts of cheer to other sports. i would also talk about the injury rates and what a typical practice is. good luck with your essay.
Some topics or elements of All Star Cheerleading which should be addressed in any discussion in my opinion are:
Physical fitness: cheerleaders are some of the most physically fit athletes I have come across.
Concentration: The level of concentration a cheerleader must have is far above anything I have ever observed. Sometimes 20 to 36 bodies running around for 2 1/2 minutes, remembering not only what and where you are supposed to be but where everyone else is supposed to be. Without that concentration, coordination and self awareness there can be serious injury. WOW!!
Dedication: Practice, practice, practice!!!
Team bonding: Understanding you are part of a team and not just an individual. Understanding your success and failures depend on your team members and not just your individual achievements. Understanding you may not always be point in the dance or last pass, playing your role for the betterment and success of the team as a whole.
Sportsmanship:
Peer Support: Helping out when ever and where ever possible.
Leadership Development and above all else RESPECT!!
Respect for oneself, for your team, your coaches, parents, team parents and the other outstanding cheergyms/teams you will come across during your season. All Star Cheerleading is without a doubt a sport, a sport which should be respected and given its proper place.
