In October, the school board at Greenwood HS in Little Rock, AR, decided to do away with male cheerleaders. The decision was made after the state competition was moved from February to December, which would keep most of the guys who cheered only during basketball season from competing. The males were originally only allowed on the team in order to lend a hand at competitions, so they decided remove them completely from the program. Greenwood HS cheerleaders and their coach immediately questioned the ruling, lobbying for their male athletes to still cheer, despite the lack of competition.
