And comp fees in $700-$800 range depending on team.

our gym charges 200-250 a month depending on competitions but that is all inclusive including comp fees, tuition, insurance, uniforms etc and coaches travel for nationals only.  there is no added cost at all. the first two months were slighlty more expensive in may and june for enrollment and uniform deposit.  but our monthly fee stays at that range and starting in january it goes down to 125- 185 until the end of the season.  i believe our entire season which it is all inclusive no hidden or added fees at all is about $2500.00
we have brand new uniforms & warm ups, we attend seven competitions. 2 are nationals. all of our comps are pretty much local except one nationals that requires an over night stay.
they have formed a very unique carpool where we paired up with families who wanted to particiapte and most of us did. so it only requires you to drive to one competition. we split the gas and parking fees amongst the families in the cars. so instead of $50- $150 for each comp after gas etc.  we pay about $20 -$30 per family.
the parents have started a kitty fund for competions where each girl brings $5.00 the weekend before competition and we have several moms who love to do this type of thing and they prepare sandwiches, healthy wraps and drinks fruit veggies etc for comp day.  but again these are moms who love to do this type of thingwink im not one of them but i contribute my $5 bucks.
i love the gym and the owner, He is very aware of the economy. he gave us discounts on tuition for back to school and we get another holiday discount break in december.  for team building, because we all need thatin a gym... we have events at the gym or at someones house once every other month. it cost the girls about $5 each.  we've had bbqs, swim parties, sleep overs, movie/dance night at the gym (that was so much fun) every one represented their generation it was very funny.
extremely happy with our gym choice and the family atmosphere which makes it so easy to come up with these ideas.

Sounds like a nice enviornment to be in...promote your gym...tell us what gym it is. It is hearing nice things like being sensitive to your customers during this economic crisis that might make people switch gyms...

i highly suggest no gym names get mentioned here simply because when a gym name is brought up some people will always find the negative with what they are doing and it ends up in a bash fest.

Sounds like your gym has come up with some great ideas.  How did they do at competitions last season?   It would be icing on the cake if in addition to all of that you guys typically win at your comps.

How many kids belong to this team/gym?  I don't mean any disrespect but this sounds like something a relativity small gym would be able to do.   There are some good ideas here and could be incorporated for a team by team bases.

yes, we did not mention our gym name for a few reasons... first it is not our posisition to recruit on another gym's message board and second it is very harsh on these boards sometimes as we all now. Last, I only wanted to throw out some suggestions that have worked for us :)
of course it depends on your gym size, willingness of parents and even your owners to be slighlty involved.   We do have a small gym and not everyone participates, but for those of us who do, we love it.
our members join our gym not just for winning, but forthe family like atmosphere. We do relatively well at our comps and all of our families love the program.  What we have inside our program keeps them at our gym.  it is a very safe, healthy competitive gym.
good luck to every one this season and especially with the economy. I hope even if the gym doesn;t do any of the things as a whole that maybe some parents can incorporate some of our iideas on their own and save some cash. we all could use it......
any more fun ideas that other have come up with????
