The cheer safety vest sold by Core Atheltics was made for karate and says on the manufacturer's label
"intended only to reduce the risk of accidental injury to the covered chest area during no contact or light contact martial arts sparring supervised by a qualified instructor"
I was so mad when I got it. How ridiculous that cheer companies allow him to sell it for cheerleading when it was never made for it. Not to mention he makes it sound like he made it himself on the E! show. Does Jim Lord know about this vest? AACCA or USASF should do something before some kid gets hurt.
This a post from another topic "cheer safety vest", but people need to see this. What in the world? We need safety equipment and new ideas, but not stuff that wasn't tested or even made for cheerleading.
EVERYONE WHO IS USING THESE VESTS SHOULD STOP! How do we know they are safe? We don't. We've got to get the word out.
If you're wondering more about Core Athletics, I've always had no problem reaching any of their Reps. My rep. DJ Yeager pretty much lives on the computer or his Blackberry, so you can get a quick response.
Try emailing him, he's pretty straight-forward/cut-and-dry, and pretty knowledgeable.
