So, we all know who our powerhouse gyms are in So. Cali. We never really hear about the small programs that are strong, have great teams, and/or are growing and getting their name out there, and gaining respect in our cheer community. With that being said, which small gyms are you all looking forward to seeing this season? What gyms/teams do you think will be strong this year across the board in all aspects of the routine? We all know every team at every gym is different every year, and with new talent coming in, the smaller programs starting to grow a little bit... who do you think will blow us all away? Who would you like to see come back from a rough year, "new & improved"... or even last seasons underdog? Also, as far as stunting and pyramids, what teams do you think will have the creativity we all love to see, the "out-side the box" kinda stuff. Not your typical pyramids we have all seen before, or the typical stunts; scorp to scale...aerobesque... cradle... etc Im looking forward to entertaining routines that are different, as well as creative. When you go to a competition, the choreography that makes you say "WOW!" Or "Oh, thats so cool... how pretty... " etc. The stunting, jumps section, dance section, partner stunts etc that you go home talking about. Those that get stuck in your head that you actually look forward to seeing the next time... California Flyers had some really creative choreography last year. Fun transistions, creative ways to load into stunts.
I am personally excited to see what aALL the small teams have to bring to the table. Without small gyms there would be no competition. I have a feeling a lot of the small gyms are really going to step it up big time this season. I think fierce is wonderful and while last season was not their greatest i am sure they will bounce back and be stronger than ever this year. I love fierce! As far as stunts changing, i really hope everyone would try something different than the scorp scale aerobesque however that is one stunt sequence i dont think will ever go away. It would be nice to see some interesting transitions into the stunts instead of straight up for levels 1-4 and fulled up from level 5. It gets quite redundant. I cant wait until competitions start. This is going to be one heck of a season!
I was really impressed with Stealth, and last year was only their first year. Great teams all around. I think they'll grow to be even stronger. And California Flyers do always have some very creative and entertaining routines.

I agree with you. Strait up rides on level 4's get a bit boring, and its so predictable. I would love to see different transitions to load in to stunts... different stunt sequences too. I like to see teams go out side of the box. Stunting makes a bigger impression with the perfect music, or a certain type of song, with the different sound effects. Myself personally love to see dramatic stunting, it adds that "wow factor" too. I really enjoyed Fierce's large lev 5 team a few years ago when they did one of their partner stunts to Amazing Grace, it was acapella. It gave us chills, and was very pretty. I also liked Cheer Extremes first partner stunt at Worlds..heal stretch-tick-tock-heal stretch scorp. It was beautiful. Also So. Cal Elite's large coed... their first partner stunt at Worlds... there was alot going on, its was very entertaining.
I really enjoyed airborne and california flyers small sr 5 teams last year, and i just found out the neither of them have a level 5 this year. Are there any other gyms that had good level 5 teams last year and dont have a level 5 team this year?

Currently Airborne does not have a level 5 team, we graduated a great deal (about 20) older girls this past season. We are excited to have a Senior Open 4, Senior 3, Senior 2 Youth 1 and college level 6! Goodluck with everyone's season!
