Post Info TOPIC: COST OF CHEERLEADING

RE: COST OF CHEERLEADING

Personally I would like to see our gym offer just one "away" competition for all teams (except level 5's).   The problem I see with splitting the teams into those who travel and those who don't is you may have some very talented athletes on one that won't be on the other, so when you travel it isn't a true reflection of the best teams your gym can put together.  It's the best teams your gym can put together based on who you had who chose to travel.

I do admire the gym for thinking of ways to save families money and to attract members who might not join if they knew they had to travel.  But there is a downside to it too, which is the point I just mentioned.  If we were on a travelling team and spent all that money (flights, hotels, etc...) to compete, I would want to have ALL of our talented athletes with us.  Otherwise what would be the point of going.   Just another point of view.

Question?  For those teams that have booster clubs... Are they set up as Non Profit? And if so, how are you staying within the rules/laws etc. but still able to get funds DIRECTLY to individuals rather than the team as a whole? We keep running into legal roadblocks in our attempts to come up with fundraisers that parents can do that can directly benefit their child's account (as opposed to going into the general fund)

Thank you so much for any advice!

does every gym offer the booster parent fundraising? Do any gyms offer any part time competition cheer?

Thanks for your help.

NO GYM NAMES PLEASE.  Does anyone know the AVERAGE cost of all star cheerleading.  Hi and the low.  When quoting prices take this all into consideration.  This will make sure we are doing the costs based upon the same information.  No need to break it down and average total is the best.
Monthly Tuition for the year
Competition Fees
Uniform costs
Camp and other expenses.

I know some gyms advertise what appears to be lower prices and you think they are less expensive until you add on the competition fees and other fees this is when we find out they are DOUBLE. I know this is not done intentionally however for the "newbie" parent it may be difficult to understand.

My guess is $2,600 to $5,000.

SO this post says no gym names....BUT what about the owners of gyms that post a response?? doesn't that tell what gym it is?  So why was my post about Califonia Crush Allstars deleted?...I was explaining that there is open gym held Wed & Sat with at least 4 to 6 coaches from #1 & #2 teams in the World teaching in the San Jose area.  I was making a suggestion to folks that if their gym was farther away and didn't want to drive for their own open gym or privates they might want to spend just $10.00 and get some of the best coaching in the area.

AND yes I posted the website but what's wrong with that.  I'm trying to help here.

I do not know if every gym offers booster club fundraisers. I hope youfind one that does.
I do know a couple gyms in our area Stockton/Tracy that have 1/2 year teams, Athletic Perfection and Cheer Odyssey.

I am not ashamed of posting what I did....YES the new gym is owned by my sons but I am a parent that has other sons that are on CA Allstars and they travel 6 hours up and 6 hours back to San Marcos almost every week, we know the cost of travel to well been doing it for 2 years now. 3 other friends this year have joined CA Allstars and do the same. I KNOW everyone knows how much GAS that costs...we do have other ways of getting there such as the bus/train and air but it's all expensive. SO during the week they all practice at CA Crush and also help coach. I was just letting everyone know that there is another option have some great coaching to better your skills and save some money on travel ....we know that everyone is pretty much decided on what team they're gonna be on so take it or leave it... So whether you utilize the $10.00 for open gym or book some privates with these coaches it's up to you...it was just an option.

You have been in the industry for years, you know that most gyms offer open gym.  Coming onto another gyms website and advertising all the specific information you did about your sons gym was just plain tacky not too mention against the rules.

Mother of 2 of the owners of CA Crush....

It all doesn't really matter anyway, nobody is going to go to someone else's gym (a gym your gym may be competing against) for extra tumbling practice.  Those very few who may benefit (ones who are travelling six hours to and from gyms) are a rare exception.

It all doesn't really matter anyway, nobody is going to go to someone else's gym (a gym your gym may be competing against) for extra tumbling practice. Those very few who may benefit (ones who are travelling six hours to and from gyms) are a rare exception.

Let me say this....because my sons did grow up in this area as cheerleaders and have ventured out and were lucky enough to have the talent they do and be on the great teams they are on they have many many friends from different teams from all over.  In which they either have cheered with, coached or currently cheer with.  Most of these friends are on or were on different teams and they do and have competed against them at some point in cheer, still come and practice or attend opengyms.  The 6 that do travel 6 hours up and back also help those who attend open gym.  The benefit is to everyone who wants to take advantage of what's there.

Mom of 2, you may be hurting the gym more than helping.  You don't want people to have negative feelings about the gym before it even gets off the ground.  I agree, let's move on, and good luck to Crush and all the new gyms starting fresh this season.

Shes not hurting anything. She should be able to repond to posts as anybody can, and there are LOTS of gyms who post their information here.  At least this was info open to everybody with no strings attached, and also pertained to the subject as they are offering some great coaching at a very affordable price.

I positively know people go to other gyms and places for extra tumbling....especially the gyms in the area that dont have the coaching that is offered there.  I know I paid A LOT of $ (way more than what is being charged there) when we needed extra tumbling privates bcuz the bay area gym we were at at the time DID NOT have tumbling coaches.  Calvin is one of the best tumbling coaches (and young men) in the industry and is a HUGE asset to the sport and athletes here in the bay area.  I can personally say he has taught my daughter most of her advanced tumbling skills.  Mike has made my daughter the flyer she is (worked with her from a beginner to a level 5).  We are so thankful for that, the opportunity we have to continue to work with them and will take any time with them we can!  The other boys are probably the best boy tumblers we have from this area and know what they are doing.  It's just an option that I think is very valuable.

Nobody is saying you have to sign a contract...it is what it is OPEN GYM...open to all athletes from any team.  So if you want to go, GO...if not DONT.
