This is very saddening. My regards go out towards her family, friends, and team. I hope there will be more safety involved to prevent this from happening again.

Cheerleading is a very extreme sport.  It is heart wrenching when things like this happen.  Our sympathy goes out to the family and the gym family.

My deepest and most heart felt condolences to the family of the young cheerleader.  Please keep us posted if there is anything we can do to assist the family in what is surely a very difficult time.  I will keep them all in my thoughts and prayers.

Yes very sad for the family.

For the cheer industry, this hurts us too as news and radio stations are playing the "Cheerleading is a DANGEROUS sport card again" and "Why are kids getting pushed to do such dangerous things?".

It is the most annoying thing!

Very sad and shocking for the family, I can't even imagine what they are going through.

I believe this kind of injury could happen in other sports as well (soccer, acro/gymnastics, basketball, etc...); I would say any sport where you are not completely protected and there is a possibility of getting a blow to your chest.  It does not happen often and is typically a freak accident, but that matters none to the family I'm sure.
