Parents who ruing kids sports. I thing it is horrible how these parents live threw there kids in there sports. Just take this message board for instance all these parents that complain and cry that they dont get there way. And thats the problem it shouldnt be about you and your way or how much money you can give or bring to the gym in return to be giving front in center of the routine or to have last pass . It should be about the kids period and there abilities. Sometimes it feels like the moms are the kids fighting, arguing and talking about the kids and the parents in there own gym behind there backs. How stupid is that. Ive been around kids sports all my life and I have to say that cheerleading is the most ridicolous and pathetic of all when it comes to the parents mostly the mothers. Some of this could be solved by the gym owners by having rules about these kind of things. And if not followed ask the parent and kid or kids to leave the team.

I have to say, I agree with you. It is about the kids.....not the parents. This mom we had at the gym was unreal! In the end she and her daughter have left to go to another gym, sice her local High School would not hire her, and took about four other families with her...... The gym will be better off with out them and good luck to the new gym!

Right or wrong, its not just cheer. There are extreme parents in pretty much every sport. Football dads, cheer mom's and so on. I don't believe for a minute that every parent of an athelete whether its cheer or not can be painted with such a broad brush.
As for parents complaining about costs, well, cheer is an expensive costs. Much more expensive than putting your kid in football or soccer or whatever. Even hs cheerleading, while its not as expensive as allstar cheerleading, its certainly alot more than I ever paid for my other kids hs sports. So, yes, there are gonna be complaints.
Does anyone by any chance remember a show a few years back called Sports Kids, Mom's and Dad's? (or something like that). They followed a cheer family, an ice skater, a football player, and equestrian and a basketball player. Every last one of those parents were way over the top, but I would never just assume that all sports parents are like that. And in my opinion, the cheer parent featured wasn't even the most bizarre parent featured in that show.

I'm right there with you. Yeah, there are plenty of crazed cheer moms, but every sport out there has crazed parents. Also, just like in all the other sports the crazy parents are few and far between...it's just that they are the ones making the biggest ruckus so they get noticed the most.
Hey I think parents are getting a bad rap on this message board. Everytime some drama crops it's ugly head up on this board someone posts how us crazy parents are to blame for starting it. Now mind you I'm not a crazy cheer parent, or at least I try not to be. If you read some of the messages posted carefully I think some young un's are behind more then a couple of these posts. There I said it and I feel better.
no it is not ALL the parents BUT... when parents come on here and talk about things that they have no idea about like how much coaches should be paid and whos where in the routine its just a little rediculous... for the most part they dont know what they are talking about thats why they need to pay someone to coach their kid... as a parent you should SUPPORT your child and pick the right gym so that you support your coaches as well... if you are not happy with the services you recieve then look elsewhere... when it comes down to it you are a PARENT... not a coach and not a judge so dont speak as if you were one
Please I'm not trying to be insulting, or cause drama, but why do you always sound so angry in your post. You really need to lighten up a little and not take everything you read on these boards so seriously.

Maybe GUIDO should have "The black sedan" pay them yungins a visit
I agree with AChamp. It gets really old after awhile when cheermoms feel that they know everything there is to know and the have some sort of right to tell the coaches and owners how to run their business. When they really have no idea.

for the record im not angry... and why am i getting targeted here... just stating my opinion like everyone else though its obviously not what people want to hear
Probably because he's had to deal with a few too many crazy parents. As much as I don't think a majority of parents are crazy, those that are would give me constant headaches...makes me glad I'm not a coach.
I just read his posts for the information provided and ignore whatever anger I read into them. AChamp doesn't hold back what he thinks (at least that's the impression I get...imagine if he actually is ;) ) and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I learn more about a subject from someone who does this than the people that love everyone and everything.

I think the sane parents can do a lot to diffuse the "drama" parents in the gym. When approached by parents in the program who have the usual "issues" mentioned above who just perpetuate attitude problems and spread it like a disease through the gym, just say, "I really don't have (____ insert drama issue here) problem, maybe you should just discuss it with the coach/owner directly." Most of the time, it's such a non-issue that they just drop it. Drama parents just want an audience and if you validate their issue, it just blows up and does become an issue in the gym. If you want proof of that, you need look no further than this message board . From one cheer parent to another, it's time to grow up and set an example for your kids. Teach them not to gossip and murmur, but to communicate effectively and directly with respect for others.
