It seems ambitous for the new gym - one athletics.   I would have thought that a new gym would build from the bottom up.  If the focus of this gym is to compete level 5 off the bat, they are going to be in a world of hurt.  They are forgetting the younger levels and what will keep them employed the next several years.

One Athletics is not going to be having an international team (14 older)? They might have an open team (18 over) for fun. But there will not be any international team going for a bid.

I disagree with this statement. Pride Athletics Champions is a first year company and we fielded a small senior level 5 right out of the gates and we got a bid. And our lower level teams didn't suffer either as seen at Jamz and at Americas Best this past weekend. It can be done but it has to be done carefully. Most of the time if it isn't done carefully, then there is too much focus on the level 5 teams and the rest of the gym feels like the red headed step children.

That is the point I am trying to make.  It does need to be handed carefully.  The new owner has coached at the higher levels - at a previous gym and has coached high school aged girls.  Just based on the historical records of this person it would seem that this is her focus.  Sure, of course, the gym will take the registration of the younger kids, but the focus will continue to try to beat a local power house down the street.  And that goal is at the level 5.  I am just saying this is a short lived goal and will bit them in the end.

I completly disagree with you. Are you speaking from hearsay, or do you actually know Bri. She is an amazing coach. I am sure she will be successful in whatever she does. Why are you upset that she opened her own gym, She is an owner now and her focus is to grow her business have her own creative control. Her own gym! Why would you say that she just want to bring the local POWER house down. Silly Rabbit. She will be just fine and good for her for taking a chance and following her dreams. It must of been extremly hard to leave a gym like POWER and start your own gym. Many coaches only dream of starting their own programs after coaching at a powerhouse gym, she actually did it! Congrats Bri! We look forward to seeing what you bring to the mat!biggrin

Bri is seen as someone who can take away from Power, plain and simple. Some will agree and some will say,"no way'.....I say,  we will all have to waite and see.  That gym used to only go to Jamz and a few other comps here and there... we will see if Bri takes the teams to comps were they will go up against Power  and the others.

Bottom line, people field International teams as a lesser level 5 team with the except of Power who can stand there own at level 5. What a waste of money to go to Worlds when you won't be able to get out of pre-lims.

Yes we will have to wait and see. The gyms you are referring to Cheer Starz was not owned by Bri so it doesn't matter where they went before. She will decide where she taked her gym. So enough about that. What other teams are fieling International 5 teams?biggrin

I like it how people say names and try to know what they are talking about. Grow up people and mind your own business. This message board is to remain anonymous so keep it that way.

This topic is about INTERNATIONAL TEAMS! Why are we talking about Bri and One-Athletics? One Athletics isn't even fielding an international team, so this is way off topic.

Sorry to play devils advocate, but how do you know they aren't "fielding an international team" I wasn't aware that everyone has had try-outs for next year let alone finished the rest of the season.
