All-American Voiceover

LOL i was just wondering why in Cheergyms.com All-American Team's routine it keeps saying, "Cheergyms.com would like to introduce to you _______ _______ (athlete's name)"...? it says it like 3 times in the routine...once for a girl doing a scorpian, once for a boy tumbling, and once for a boy in a basket...just curious lol!

good job this season by the way...you guys have really stepped it up...im impressed! love the "say cheese!" part...

I believe in a post wayyy far back Danny once explained that all of the kids would eventually have their name put into the voiceover. I think it changes (the names ) at every comp.  Correct me if I am wrong biggrin

No is has not changed, same 3 mentioned. Wonder how the other 33 on the team feel? What happened to there not being any "I" in TEAM? Kind of strange...

I think it is very neat, and personal, no matter what competition your name gets called in, that has to be really exciting. Also I would much rather hear a cheerleaders name, than a stupid whip sound or any of the other lame sound effects and voice overs I have heard lately.

I think I would be sad if I were one of the other athletes on the team.cry

All American is a very strong team i dont think they would let something so little as having someone elses name in the music and not theres too hard. They are all a great group of athletes. in my opinion when they "introduce" the 3 ppl it shows off 3 skills not ppl. yes it says there names but it really is the skill. Tumbling, a spike, and a really cool basket.

Why? I dont get it, the way I understand it every kid on the team has their name in the music at one time or another. Am I missing something here?

Okay I get it, I thought that they changed the names after every competition. That does seem a little strange.

Danny is there an reason for this? I hope you introduce this base that put the really cool basket up etc......

As a parent of a cheerleader on the AA team, I can tell you that I have heard nothing but positive comments from the kids about the introductions. No one has openly complained about these three kids being showcased.
I personally think it is fun and different - I love it!

I hope Pix doesn't mind that I add that her child is not one that a voiceover announces.

I love cheergyms, I adore Morton, Danny and Nikki (I don't think Nikki has anything to do with AA, but I like her so much I threw her in anyway), I'm thrilled the kids don't seem to have a problem with the voiceover, I don't like it.  When I first read about it and the response was that different names were going to be replacing older ones, I thought it was a very creative idea and I LOVED it.  However, that isn't what happened and I just don't like it for the whole it's-a-team reason.

I love it, completely original or at least for as long as I've been around cheer I have never seen any other organization do it.  If I was on a team that did it I would not be jealous if it was not me being showcased because those 2 boys and girl are being showcased because of their talent that they work HARD for.  If I wanted to be showcased I would work hard to get a skill that is worthy of being recognized.  Don't get jealous, get better!

biggrin

Not everybody is a flyer or a tumbler so how do you get better at those skills if you arent one of them?  Ie: How does an athlete destined to be the best base out there show off her flying skills?

The original idea of changng the name to showcase the whole team at one time or another was toally original and would have been fun to see.

I agree...all the kids work "HARD" to obtain whatever skills they have, not just the ones with the more difficult skills. The girl flying may have working very hard to get her skill, but she doesn't levitate! There are bases under her who are working very HARD to keep her up there to pull her trick!weirdfaceThey should share the recognition!

AMEN!!! I hate to say it, but I have heard talk from the team about it....and it was not positive. Again, there are 36 on the team. Someone said "the others should work harder to get their name in the routine"....kind of silly. They all work hard, that is why they win. Good luck at Worlds AA Coed.

The way that I took the whole "voiceover" thing was that it's supposed to be like a show or movie.  If you listen to all the voiceovers from beginning to end, it sounds like a movie or a show of some sort and even starts out by saying..."this is why you sat here all day..."  like they are the main attraction.  it follows with the "say cheese" part which resembles an introduction to a show of some sort.  The voiceovers continue by introducing first the guy with an awesome tumbling pass, then the girl with an awesome scorp and double twist down, followed by the guy who pulls an insane twist basket.  It's creative and different and that's what teams need in order to stand out.  It continues to say, "the best in the valley...is right here."  Finally it ends with a great big CHEERGYMS.COM, which is where they are all dancing and together.  I don't think anyone should get offended or feel that anyone is being singled out.  It's all a part of the theme of the performance and like I said it's very creative.  The whole team is the main subject and they are being judged and looked at as a team so why does it matter that a few names are mentioned.  In my opinion, as well as plenty others out there, it's a show theme and it's a good move.
