I know that we are aware that programs like Nor Cal, Airborne and Cheergyms use crossovers. Some use them in excess and some use them to fill in for injuried people or people that have quit.
Now that we know that this is a common practice do you feel that we will see more gyms use crossovers in the manner in which cheergyms used them this year? This is not a knock on what they did, as I may not fully agree with it , it may be because I did not think of it first. I am just curious to see if others will follow suit.
Lets not turn this into what has happened in the past or about people being upset about having to compete against teams with crossovers that have higher skills. It is not against any rule so I just want to see what people have to say about the practice of it in the future.

I do see it as a trend, and I think it's a good thing. I was not a fan of crossovers, even as early as last season. But it is difficult to compete against gyms that do it, so why not join them. It is not illegal and if you have guys/girls willing to put in the commitment and effort, more power to them. I will never be a fan of a team who has half or over half of their members also cheering on a higher level team, that is a completely different issue.
Until the rules are changed crossovers will be a reality for our sport. If crossovers will be eliminated it could potentially cripple many gyms who don't have the physical number of athletes to compete and be competitive with other more established programs. A gym I worked at is closing this year due to the same thing.
While my personal opinion has been against crossovers, I have seen great benefit come from using them including having them in the gym to be able to train them. It gives me more time with them to build up there weak areas. So professionally I am in favor of it, as long as it follows the established rules.

I agree with you completely on this. It is difficult for small gyms to compete and crossovers helps them out. They are using the talent at their gym to put together the best teams possible. If they were larger they wouldn't need to use crossovers. What I see is that the members who are crossing over to a lower level team are helping to teach those athletes, they act as mentors. It is working out very nicely. We do it with a handful of members, not half a team's worth. I think you do have to draw the line when half the team is also cheering on a higher level, and that is a rule I hope gets established someday soon (a rule such as only allowing a percent of your athletes to cheer on a higher level team if they are also on a lower level).
