Hey there - I got a flyer from a small gym that says they are joining the Northern California All Star Alliance (NCAA) - which is an alliance with Power and some other Northern California gyms. I was shocked to hear that Power was hoooking up with anyone. This small gym was of course using it as a recruiting tool. Anyone know anything about this new alliance?
The NCAA ( Nothern California All Star Alliance) has nothing to do with alliances. I think almost every gym in NorCal is doing it including Cheergyms. Power is not in charge of it, it is a way for gyms to all go to the same competitions so they have some leverage in negiotiating lower comp prices. It is a very smart things for all gym owners to look at. There really is not negative.
It has nothing to do with Power "partnering" up with any other gym
Funny, how this gym specifically mentions Power on their flyer. It really makes it seem like they are pratnering with Power and because of this they have a shot at Worls.
Well, it sounds like Power is going the way of cheergyms.com, which seems to be working well for them.
What small gym is "joining" Power?
I started poking around on the internet and it is the same gym that caused quite a sitr earlier by advertising on it's website that they would give discounts if you brought in another gym's contract.
WEll I run a gym, and thats good for anyone who wants to do it, but I like my freedom in able to choose something if a better deal comes up. We like what we like and it benefits us. We change our comp schedule every year, so to tell another organization we promise to go to these 4-5 comps would not be in our best benefit.

My apologies; the post, to me, sounded like that's what was going on. I didn't mean anything negative towards Power or NCAA.
Yes we got the same flyer and my daughter comes hoem and says so we are going to be part of power too. I said no we havent heard anything like that. Unfortunately this gym has a bad habit of lieing and false advertising to their parents. nothing is upfront and they continue to put their foot in their mouth. ive learned that they build their business on lies. it is all in the wording and they choose to continue to lie all the time. all the time. they lie to the kids and they lie to the parents too. it is catching up to them they are so out ofthe loop of how many parents are actually not happy with the gym because they believe their own lies and they are arrogant to the unhappy people there. but they will learn sooner or later. count down to nationals and we are out of there and the unhealthy atmosphere there.

Thanks for the link to answer my question, but wow. I could barely read that; it looked like ultra-fine print! I don't know who saw that, but you have fantastic eyesight!

That is not what this alliance is about. It is about securing better prices for competition fees from the companies. Unless UCF has struck some sort of other deal with POWER that we dont know about. But on our end that was never even discussed. Personally, if you live close enough to POWER and have level 5 skills why would you do another team?
The Northern California All-Star Alliance is in the process of defining its 2008/2009 agenda. This Alliance is the banning together of All-Star gyms, big and small, level 1 teams through level 5 teams, from the foothills of the Sierra to the coastline of the Bay.Currently there are 15 + programs that are interested in our inaugural year.
The alliance members will have no affiliation with each other in regard to creating teams for competitions etc.
By joining together and attending some not all of the same events we will all share in the following.
ˇReduced competition fees for our members currently we have 15 programs with any where from 1200 to 1400 members collectively. We will be expecting a break in fees from event producers if we are to attend the competition as one.I figure we can reduce fees by as much if not more than $100 per person.Every member of every gym would share in the benefit of this alliance
ˇCreate competition Like other gym owners, parents, and participants we are tired of attending competitions with no competition.By the Alliance members attending 4 to 5 competitions the same we will improve the odds greatly that each of us will have competition. We are just tired of waiting on event producers to solve this problem.
ˇTo force event producers from scheduling multiple competitions on the same day in the same area, and thus diluting competition.Example Athletic Championships and CHEERSPORT were on the same day this year and both competitions were good competitions, but attendance at both competitions were down from last year. Can you imagine if we all were at the same event, depth in every division and every level. How exciting would that be?We can collectively force them to set a schedule in Northern California that will be beneficial for all programs of all sizes and their families.
ˇIncrease skill development in the region By numerous gyms attending the same events coaches will be forced to step up their game instead of resting on the fact that they dont have competition so why push skills or develop participants as they should. It will force gym owners to create proper level teams to be competitive. It will force participants and their families to develop skills to make these more competitive level teams that gym owners will create.Ultimately raising the level of talent in our region and finally be competitive nationally instead of only locally.
ˇTo collectively encourage event producers to set aside some of the proceeds from events in our region to go towards the USASF scholarship fund.Parents pay enormous amounts of money over the years spent in All-Star cheer and there should be more opportunity for those members wanting continue cheer after All-Stars and attend college.
ˇTo block vote for the NACCC rules meeting in Atlanta.Too many rules are currently decided upon by southern and east coast teams. Why? Because the meetings are held in Atlanta (East Coast) and the cost for California gym owners to attend is in the thousands. This year they did open up a live web cast which was great. However, many of the gyms in California were not notified of the voting process or didnt vote.Collectively we can have almost 100 votes which can sway any close vote in our favor (which will be beneficial to Northern California) Example this year they want to raise the Large Senior Division to 40 memberswhich barley passed. If they were to look at the demographics in Northern California they would realize that we dont have the numbers to field large teams. Just look at the current teams
a.Level 5 - 1 team POWER
b.Level 4 - 2 teams POWER and Starstruck
c.Large COED - 0 teams
d.And they want to increase it further...GEEZ
These are just some of the areas we are looking at for the upcoming year.
I am glad that the cat if finally out of the bag.I have already been contacted by several event producers asking when we can meet.
What started out as a random brainchild of mine on my couch 4 weeks ago is turning into a very influential and all inclusive alliance.Every gym is welcome to be apart of it and together we can make a difference. If you are interested in joining please contact powercheer@aol.com
We will be discussing matters this week and will unveil our 2008/2009 agenda next week.We will give all event producers until April 1, 2008 to get us dates and locations of their events, and a cost breakdown for the following numbers. Please note we will not be BRAND specific, yet are looking to attend quality events, at reasonable prices, with great customer service.
