The future of our sport.

So every year around this time I know that I wonder who is coming back to our gym and what teams we will have.  I have begun to think that I want to take it back to the begining and focus primarily on the Level 2 and 3 teams in the youth and junior division.  These kids are so much more excited about learning new skills and have better attendance all around.  Is it wrong for me to go through this thought process or do other gyms and coaches feel the same way.  I know that some gyms do not offer level 5 at their gym, is it because you cant field one or you choose not to?  Sometimes I feel that the teams are more for the coaches then for the kids.

I know what you mean.   But does it mean you would only take members who are of youth and junior age and turn down seniors?

No not at all.  We would take Seniors, I just think every team needs equal time and effort and sometimes the teams we give the least to are the ones that love cheer the most.

I think it really depends on the kids..... the senior kids just have a different set of issues that the young bright eyes and bushy tailed young ones..

It is a bigger challenge for the older kids and there are different motivators... the senior kids give up a lot of their high school social life so they have to love it or why would they give up that "hang out time?"....For CHEER????

I love watching the youth and junior teams.  I know it's the level 5 teams that seem to get all the attention, but the younger teams ya gotta love em.  Such energy and they are so fun to watch.  It makes me remember back when we first got involved with all stars.  I start remembering why I love it so much.

I agree with you.  There are some really amazing youth and junior teams out there.  These levels/ages seem to cheer without all the drama of high school attitudes/emotions/stress and anything else that comes along with girls in high school.  Don't get me wrong, the high school girls are just as amazing but just have more to think about than the younger ones.
