This board seems to get so serious at times. So I wanted to start a fun topic. What is your favorite thing that happen so far this season. It can be anything. Winning 1st place for the first time. Throwing your first backhand spring at competition, so on and so on.
I am the coach of our Jr. level 3 team at all star, My FAVORITE moment was early on in the season at the Jamfest competition in San Fran, my team competed as a youth level two last year, and with the amount of tumbler on the team, and the age of new girls that joined the team, they were an excellent candidate for a Jr. Level 3, but as most coaches can agree there are a lot of cahnges between 2 and 3... So we worked hard all summer long gaining skills, So when they cam out on the floor at Jamfest and nailed their routine I was ecstatic!!!! I love my team, and I could not be prouder... but this is a moment and a feeling I will NOT forget!!!
My favorite time was also from Jamfest in San Francisco. It was just being there, watching all the teams and talking to all the people I don't see anymore.
My favorite moment is from Cheersport (January at UOP). One of the teams I coach finally had all of the athletes doing the routine and the skills that they are suppose to accomplish, even adding in a skill the day of the comeptition. For the first time all year I was thrilled with their performance without any doubt. I can not wait until Jamfest in Fresno to see the routine again at a comeptition (instead of just at practice).
I am so proud of the girls on Pyramids Senior red (special needs) team. You did awesome!

1.) Seeing my daughter (Junior Large Level 2) throw her back handspring for the first time with no spot and no one standing there. One of my "rules" when I was hired is that i do not coach my daughter. I am her father and I never want there to be any issue between me and her on that. So I let the other coaches work with her, and only occasionally will spot her. She just threw it while they were going through the routine and the owner comes into one of the other gyms where I was to tell me what she had done.
2.) Just last week a coach was instructing the Senior Large Level 2 team. One of the boys on the team was kinda mouthing back and the coach stopped the practice and called him out. The coach said..."Well_________, what are you adding to the routine? I have my back handspring...what do you have?" The boy promptly turned around, dropped his arms and threw a back handspring with no spot. (First time he ever tried to do it by himself!) The look on the coaches faces and the reaction of his teammates...PRICELESS!!!!
3.) At our last competition out of 13 teams, 11 came in first, 2 in second, plus we won Grand Champion over a Nationally Known and much larger program. We only lost to that program in one division. Honestly i believe a large part of that was because they were looking past that comp and looking to the big competitions on their schedule with the other major programs in the country (Like Michigan against Appalachian State) and were expecting an easy time. That is no disrespect to them whatsoever! They perform incredibly well and did so that day as well. We just beat them that time at that competition, that is all.
4.) Our Youth Large Level 2 team (we have no level 1 teams so this is our beginners team) that started as a Small had the lowest percentage of tumbling when the team was assembled last year. The vast majority of the kids on this team have never cheered before this year and only a few are in their second year. At the close of practice yesterday with one week to go to their next competition they are one person away from having true squad standing and running BHS.
My favorite moment just happened at spirit spectacular when the Royals music stopped and I tell you I think EVERYONE at the venue was counting for them it was great!!!
My second favorite happened to be at the same venue I didn't see anyone banging thunder sticks are using blow horns Ya....
Royal allstars at spirtt spectacular was one of the high lights of thisseason and I like how every one was counting and cheering them on its nice to see that !
