I think there is a need for a quality all-star cheer program in the Antioch, Oakley, Brentwood area. To the people who are voting no, I am curious why you would vote against it?
The reason why i voted no was because from antioch, pyramids is only a 20 min drive... ive know several of Pyramids all stars that have came from brentwood, antioch, oakley and discovery bay to cheer at pyramids.... really isnt that far of a drive.
I agree with Cheer Mom. A 20 minute drive to Pyramids is nothing. There are some kids that are current All Stars at Pyramids who drive over an hour or more one way to get to the gym for practice twice a week. So really, a 20 minute drive ain't to shabby!!
The fact is this however. There are tons cheerleaders in the East County area and so few of them come to Pyramids. It may only be 20 minutes a way but thats without traffic. With traffic it can take up to an hour to get to Concord.
The youth programs out here are awesoem but then they have no where to go because the high schools are so horrible. I think an All Star gym would boom out here.
I agree with cheer girl. We have been driving to Pyramids from Oakley for four years and would not stop even if there was a new cheergyms.com gym in town. However, there is still a need in this area for a good program so why not? How would it impact Pyramids?
I can answer that! It wouldn't impact Pyramids much at all in terms of numbers. Only 9 of the 160 All Stars are from the Antioch general area. While we haven't gotten a large number of kids from the East County area we have got some really great ones. Graduates include Nicole Honaker, Courtney Fieros, and Billy Duran.
The bad thing is that we get so few, the good thing is that we get really dedicated ones that are willing to deal with the drive to be a part of a quality program.
I would like to think that more than 9 kids would be interested in a cheergyms.com gym if one opened in the Antioch area. Who knows though?
I don't think it would have a negative impact on Pyramids. I just wonder if that area understands that their is life after youth football cheerleading.
We don't live in East County but we do live far away from Concord and have to fight the traffic to get our daughter to the gym... but knowing the quality and exceptional experience that she gets from Pyramids is well worth the drive. Our daughter has been in the program for several years and it has been well worth it. I think that a new cheer gym in Antioch would be great if we could get enough girls out that way to join...but if not East County come to Pyramids!!! There are several car pools that come from East County and believe me Pyramids is one of the best allstar programs in California!!!
I drove my daughter to Pyramids for over nine years. I made it all the way there and back three times a week. Yeah, it was a pain...at the time there was not even someone from Benicia to carpool with. Never mind the stinking bridge toll. But...I would have driven much further to get the kind of first rate instruction they offered. I would have to say, in my opinion of course...that cheergyms.com are some of the best cheergyms in the west. HOWEVER...PYRAMIDS IS THE ABSOLUTE, TOP OF THE LINE, FIRST CLASS CHEERGYM OF ALL!!!! As I said many times...if you want your child to be a NATIONAL CHAMPION this is where they need to be. LOVE YA PYRAMIDS STAFF!
I would love to see more cheergyms go up, but would also love to see the gyms we have already increase in size as well! A short drive from antioch to concord is not that bad.
I drive from my home in sacramento to Lodi 3 times a week to coach at 720 and at least 2-3 times a week to pyramids in concord as well for the college coed team. The drives to both gyms are a hasstle at times, but we have the best kids and staff in cheergyms.com and wouldn't work anywhere else. I love my kids i coach at 720 and love the college team and KNOW that anyone who joins cheergyms.com will understand it's worth the time to drive to one of our wonderful gyms!!!
Our staff rocks and i'm so glad to have been a part of cheergyms.com for so long and can't wait for the years to come because i will remain with cheergyms.com for years to come!!
Hey there East County People, There is a "gym" in antioch, it's not an actual gym yet, we are working on it but there is an all star team. Visions Elite All Stars is based in Antioch and is a great program, we are young yet, this is our third year, but we already have national titles under our belt, and we have some of the best coaches and choreographers around.
