I was watching some of the videos of POWER and Cheergyms and noticed that they say, "oh" every time one of their teams does a jump. This goes for the higher level teams. My question is, Dis these gyms make this up together? I just noticed they are the only two that do it. I like it. I think its different!
cheergyms says "up"... to help us get our jumps higher... and when everyone says up together it helps with our timing so not only do our jumps get higher, but they are on count with each other.

Isn't this a technique used instead of counting? I find this to be very interesting. I guess its a good way to keep the team together. SOOOO does POWER say "up" also for the same reason?
While were on the topic of helping the team and so on. Isn't there a rule where you can't have words in the music to help you during the dance. Let me explain this better with an example. Say the teams is doing their dance and the part where their cheer comes up, all of a sudden exactly when they are going their cheer, the cheer is being said in the music with them. Half of the kids on the team aren't really saying the cheer, almost just mouthing it. Isn't there a rule against doing something like this? If not, I got some good ideas for a cheer in music : )
yah i love how we say up at college pract.. even watchin the AA practice i think it really helps timing and i dont know about it anyone else but gets me sorta pumped up

Power came up with the i dea first!! and now its seems other gyms seem to be copying them!!lets just say some gyms need to be original and come up with there own sayings
when we do our jumps eather at practice or competition we say "up" also to get them heigher and also to push ourselves too and for me it really helps to make them higher
POWER said "UP" last year and I think it really helped with crowd involvment during their routines. It seems to have caught on with other programs this year. Great Idea.
POWER was not the first program to do this, however it does help our members to execute thier jumps and stay on beat.
To the POWER member or parent who posted above, stay off the boards. This is a classic example of why I dont allow you to post. It starts a debate / controversy that is not needed. Instead, use your spare time to work on skills (if a member) and not post messages. Super strong fingers from typing so much wont do us any good on the cheer floor (LOL), but better tumbling, jumps, or flexibility could. Be wise young grasshopper on how you use your time over break.
OC Mom, Mom of 5 great kids! A cheerleader/softball player, a RETIRED cheerleader, a football/baseball player, 1 Airman and future Police Officer and one college student!

Is that in our parent contract that every parent has to adhere to??
