Uniforms 911!!!!!!!!! HATE THE CROPS! I dont know how many times I had parents come up to me and say, "please never ever get the short tops". They are not flatering at all. Even on thin girls, it can still look really bad. Some of the uniforms I see now look like they are coming from halloween costume stores. Playboy here they come, the 2007-2008 all star cheerleaders. Why do we even make them wear crops? If we continue to make the outfits smaller, we might as well throw them out there in their sports bra and shorts. I feel bad for the kids involved in programs where the outfits are so small. Gross. Stop rolling the tops up too. We all can tell! It doesnt look good.
I am not a fan of crop tops. I am old fashioned, and my daughter is already trying to grow up too fast and pushing the limits...
I can grudgingly support it for a senior team, but I really don't like them on the junior, youth and mini teams... It reminds me of beauty pageants where the little girls are wearing totally inappropriate attire and make-up.
I am also concerned for the girls that don't have perfect little bodies. They already have to contend with an image concious society, and this only makes them more self-concious. (I also have seen this with the girls that do have perfect little bodies.)
I do hate it when little girls are wearing thick red lipstick. It reminds me of exactly what you are talking about. I mind that more than crop tops. Crop tops do not bother me one bit on the little ones, I think they look cute.
I agree that I only like them on teams where the ENTIRE team looks good in them. Even if there are just one or two that the top does not flatter, those are the ones that catch my eye for the entire performance. I'd rather see a uniform that flatters all.
if the WHOLE team CANNOT wear them, dont get them!!! as a cheerleader, i cannot tell you how badly i wanted to wear crop tops!!! (i look really good in them though, lol) and then my team was getting them,,, and i quitt!
BUTTT, i was looking at the jamfest pictures and i felt bad for some of the girls!!! if i knew i would not be--so cute--in a crop top i would never ever ever let my coach put me in one!!! even though most teams that wear them are advanced, some of the girls just shouldn't be in them!
I'm hoping that they are a trend on the way out, but since I feel this way I'm sure they'll be around forever. ;)
I'm with you! I don't know who decided that crop tops and low, tight skirts are necessary for teams to win, but I hope the style goes out soon. It's like the low pants on guys - it makes me wince to see them. I really don't like to look at a bunch of bare midriffs while I'm trying to enjoy a routine (same with the tops where there's only one sleeve - too distracting). They're usually so tight that even the thin girls show some bulge!
I also like a skirt with a bit of flare, so that it moves around easily with the dancing and stunting, and doesn't have to be pulled down again after each jump or stunt.
TO FUTURE GYMS WHO ARE LOOKING INTO GETTING NEW UNIFORMS, PLEASE BE CREATIVE. CREATE A NEW LOOK!!!!!!! TO THE GYMS THAT JUST PURCHASED CROP TOPS THIS YEAR .......... BAD CHOICE!
I was all set up to have my kids join a team really liked the gyma nd program but i couldnt see my 12 year old in a crop top so i found another gym my gorlfriend signed her daughter up and she is regretting it just because she cant stand the crop tops not because of the gym
i hate them too its not flattering even on the girls w perfect shapes for them and it does take away from the overall look IMO but parents have a choice to sign them up I chose not too
Crops tops look awesome on the older girls that are fit, and in my opinion, really make a level 5 team look incredilbely athletic...not so good on the younger ones that may have a lil tummy still. :( So, maybe there should be an age level for them. Not to say that the older girls won't have a lil tummy too. I don't know... this is a hard one......but I really like them a lot!!!
There's a solution for crops if your kid can't wear them. Unitards.....
Crops are adorable.

When I was looking for an all star team to join, crop tops were one of the biggest things I avoided. I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing one while performing in front of a large crowd. Our gym has full-length tops and we have a lot of great athletes and most of them are very happy that we do NOT have crop tops, even the ones who are very athletic and fit.
