if they want to go to worlds they NEED JUMPS TO TUCKS and MORE FULLS to be able to compete with crazy teams like POWER and top gun and ace...

but i really liked thier routine and i definately think it is possible with a whole season ahead of them... biggrin

There is no way they can be thinking of going to worlds, that routine wouldn't never get out of pre-lims. And if they are going to try to get a bid against teams like Power, even Nor Cal even an at-large bid will be a stretch. Sorry but they're just not World's level 5 maybe California level 5 but people need to watch World's first before making a statement like that.

Just keeping it real.

I understand the above comment but think of this.  Maybe they have more skills but they were not clean so they did not compete them.  After this past weekend in Senior 5 I wish some skills were not thrown.

Are you saying you would rather see people bust on skills compared to clean skills that are easier?

I thought Cheer Odyssey had a great routine.

Don't count ANY team out for a Worlds bid. There are rule changes this year that might make it a bit harder to get a bid, but I think there are still plenty of bids out there to hand out.

If you look at Odysseys routine there are several places where they could still be adding additional skills as the season progresses. Its a great routine and they performed it well. I would bet some of those layouts are being developed into fulls and the 3jumps section could easily add a tuck.

If they do get a bid to Worlds I think the most difficulty they will have is their numbers. They only have 19(?) members/3 guys. This will be hard to compete against teams with 36 members/4 guys. And only putting up 5 stunt groups against teams with the potential of putting up 9+ stunts.

This year there is a new division in Int'l that could possibly work for these smaller teams: Small Int'l Open Coed-24members/1-12 males. Now with that said, you know those larger US gyms that are very powerful are going to bring teams with 12 guys and do some awesome stunting and tumbling.

So, with all that said, GO FOR IT ODYSSEY and any other California Level 5 team out there. We need to keep pushing to be the best and represent our state at Worlds!

i agreee. like i said earlier, i like their routine and if they gain/ add a few more skills they could be a real competitor.  and i agree with worlds wathcer. worship.gif

I think that they actually lookee better last year. With so few members you really see that lacking of level 5 skills. I do not even think they would far well in the level 4 division. I think the routine is weak in many areas, but you really see it in tumbling. They recyle the same 5 fulls throughout the entire routine. A level 5 team with only 5 fulls, that is so 1999.

I would have to disagree. 5 fulls is really about 2001 or 2002.

Found an old NCA video, WC and CA had about 12 to 15 fulls in 98'. I remember when most cali teams had 1-3 fulls in 99 and in 01-02 there were close to 5 or 6. Now you need over half the team throwing them to even think about being competitive. Its also all about chreography, because you need to know what to highlight and what not to.

If you're competing in a large division you HAVE to have 12 stunts.  There's almost no way around it.

The new large size limit is 36.  Up from 35.  It was done specifically so people could put up 12 stunts.  Before, when it was 35, you maxed out with 11 stunts but you potentially had 2 people leftover.  In order to truly max yourself out stunting wise they added the extra person.  So now you can max out with 12 stunts.

Any less and it will really count against you.
