I'd like to know what everyone thinks? I was amazed to see one pop warner type team in particular compete against allstars last weekend at POWER and do so well.
Also, it's interesting to know that this particular team was somewhat trained by POWER. How does everyone feelabout that? Based on POWERS website and other information told to me, they seem to go there for stunt training and choreograghy camps. Seems like a bit of a conflict of interest to me. Anyone agree disagree? Especially since the judges for this comp were POWER coaches.
Just some food for thought and I'd love to see what everyone else thinks of this.
I wish everyone would stop whining about the competitions - you got beat. Deal with it... whether it be at Power or Jamz - by a youth football team or a team who's style you didin't like.. get over it. Suck it up and move on.
1. I am not the parent of a cheerleader. 2. I am not a coach or gym owner. 3. I just attended the competition becsue i used to cheer and compete in college and I love to attend comp when they are local for me.
I think it's a topic worth discussing. I think if you don't want to contribute to the discussion you don't have to...but you don't have to spread negativity either. it's a valid topic of discussion. Please don't turn it nasty.
Well to prevent this shoudn't all teams be USASF sanctioned, as well be a all star team. I personallly feel the youth football/pop warner teams in Nor Cal are out of control and their rules people should get a handle on it. The whole point of youth football teams were supposed to be low costing, game focused, as well as competitive. They have shifed their focus and these teams are are not just meeting out in the grass like other teams. I really think Power did a disservice by allowing that.

Why would not people from Power not judge at the Power comp. It is not like the Power teams were there. People that work NCA camps, judge at NCA comps.
What would be wrong is that if they worked for Power and then brought there teams to a Power comp, but that does not happen.
This team brings POWER alot of money in the form of stunt training and POWER creating choreography for them. Would they be so willing to spend so much money if they went to a comp and didn't place well??
Are you saying that if you go to a NCA summer camp you cannot compete at NCA comps. Or if you go to a UCA camp you cannot go to UCA Nationals. You better go tell all of those teams. Also, tell Kentucky that they cant go to UCA college Nationals because they went to a UCA summer camp.
POWER does not do ANY choreography for ANY youth teams, high schools, or other all-star programs. This includes any and all staff members of the POWER All-Star program.
We do stunt camps, clinics, and half-time routines for the above mentioned. All youth groups in the Sacramento Area are prohibited from paying for any choreography for their competition routines.
The youth organizations attending our event are no different than a high school or an all-star team going to a NCA, UCA, JAMZ, or cheergyms camp and then attending one of their competitions. Furthermore, the only two judges that worked the competition that work for POWER, DID NOT work any summer camps or clinics.
I hope this answers your questions if not you can contact me personally @ powercheer@aol.com .
No that's not what I'm saying at all. This is a different situation. tese are private camps...where POWER is actually creating the stuff they use in the routine.
WOW! These are some heavy accusations to make and I hope you get your facts straight before making astatements like this again!
Thanks for clarifying all that John. That was obviously coming from someone who doesn't understand how these youth teams work. Being that I am a coach for a youth team that is in the same league as the team that you seem to be refering to I can tell you that it is against our league rules to pay someone to create our routines. I know how hard Oakridge Jr. Trojans work to be successful and I know they are an organization with high morals and integrety.
