Favorite team stunting/pyramids?

"Anyone having something original/different/crazy etc. I love to watch the partner stunting. There are so many teams out there stepping outside of the box, and making the stunting their own...."

This was a topic that was asked a while ago, and no one ever really posted any replies. Now that some teams have already started to compete, im wondering what the "new and improved" stuning looks like so far?? Originality, old school, different, or just simply amazing? I love to watch the stunting. I see many teams out there with jaw dropping stunting, and pyramids that are bomb. I myself, LOVE...

~QUAKES (are they still around?)
~CA

Anyone? Anyone?biggrin.gif

I would say from last year I would say Power Large senior 5. They put up 10 stunt groups and that was really impressive to me. I think they have good pyramids. I also think that NorCal has great baskets

They put up 11 stunts most of the year, then changed it at the end of the year to 10 for Worlds with the changing of the teams.

It's interesting to see the "said to be top teams in CA." I like to watch the stunts that are not directly front and center...try watching some of the back stunts or even the one's on the sides...you will see flyers cheating the positions, only doing single downs etc..if you watch those stunts and they have correct technique, are doing all of the moves, etc, then you know they are a good stunting team.

Yeah but that could be said of any team. Try looking at the outside flier on a level 2 team. The middle flier will always be better. That is just darn good coaching.

So true...how many level 5 teams have we seen where the outside fliers cannot do all of the moves!!! ??

I hate to see coed teams stunt like all girl. If you are a coed team you should be coed stunting. I am excited too see the boys from the Small Coed AA partner stunt if they are putting up 12 stunts that is awesome. Doesn't coed teams look better is they are partner stunting. I liked that Motions and Norcal did it last year

Actually, TRUE partner stunting is when you have ONE guy under the flyer....Motions and NorCal did not do that last year. At least Motions did it with age appropriate fliers. Of course, if your flyer is 60 pounds, you should have no problem with 2 people under the stunt- that's only 30 pounds each!!!

Spoken like a person who is on a coed team that stunts all girl. The fact is they only had two people underneath the flier not three. Boys are stronger. That is science. Coed teams should not have three people underneath them if any of them are boys. Dont hate on Motions and NorCal. They did it the right way.

I'm not hating on anyone...I used to cheer for NorCal/Southbay. I was just stating the truth. Partner stunting is 2 people (hence the word PARTNER)...so technically, what they do is assisted partner stunting- not the same thing. We have gyms from the east coast who do true partner stunting. Not hating on anyone, just clarifying....

Legally, you have to have the second base, even in level 5:

A. A spotter is required for all extended stunts.
That doesn't necessarily mean they have to DO something...but if that person HAS to at least be there legally, you may as well put them to work helping to stabilize the stunt.

But a true "partner stunt" doesn't need the help to stabilize. Yes, the spotter has to be there, but they don't have to assist. The stronger, Worlds winning coed teams are doing true partner stunting with spotters, not assisted. That's what west coast teams need to strive for to compete against the best of the best. Keep practicing and it will come.

I don't disagree. Just pointing out the rule. It's not as though you could put up 18 stunts if you truly partner stunted. Those extra spotters still must be there and have their attention focused on the stunt.  And they *do* have to assist on the cradle, if there is one.

I love this topic.... I can't wait to see what other people are going to do in partner stunts this season... I mean where do you go up from "sevens", tilts, spikes, and needles? Haven't we seen it all, right?

Our level 5 is competing a body position that I have personally never seen anyone perform. I thought it up in my little brain but I never thought anyone would be able to do it... turns out all of them can. LOL. We'll see how the new body position compares to other teams this season.
