POWER VS JAMZ

I thought cheer gyms was going to JAMZ?  Did they change why?  The power schedule is out are any of those teams also doing JAMZ?  Looks like JAMZ will be a small competition this year for this one competition.  Do you think it is too late to go to POWER or are teams doing both.  Looks like POWER is getting busy?  I know Starstruck is going to JAMZ always do, but what about these teams are they going to JAMZ?  I noticed many teams keep their competition schedule secret.  Why do they do this?  It is not like it makes a difference.. blankstarewinkawwideaconfused

Cheer Gyms
Power
NorCAL
Royals
UCF
Cheer Starz

Any other local teams?

cheergyms is going to power, not JAMZ. Their schedule is in the newsletter which can be found on the main cheergyms, Motions or Pyramids page. I don't know the reason why they changed. Maybe too many too close?

First Comps --

Cheer Starz - Jamfest (no Jamz)
UCF - Power (no Jamz)
Royals - Jamz and Jamfest (I believe)
Power - Jamfest
Cheergyms - Power and Jamfest
NorCal - Don't know

Looks like Jamz will be low in attendance. From that list it's just the Royals and Starstruck.

Today is the last day to add to the Victory Cup.  I should have an updated schedule out this afternoon.  Several programs have added since the initial schedule was posted.

Cheers

JOHN

I'm sure that Jamz will be a great competition for the teams that will be attending.  Just because some of the power house gyms are not going does not mean it will be less of a competition.  Good Luck everyone.

JAMZ does have a lower than normal schedule however there are many gyms attending.  Schedule comes out next week.  Looks like it is all day and no youth, or highschool teams so I think it is going to be slightly larger than power.  good luck and which ever competition you select.  I know that power is less expensive for the gyms to attend which is great...

JAMZ Too.  Remember they hosted an amazing nationals this year.  I am sure all of us will hit the JAMZ competition sometime this year.  They have so many options power only has a few.  Why arent teams going to both power and jamz.  is it because it is too costly?  we are going to both..

The competitions POWER AND JAMZ are on the same day. The 28th!! Head to powercheerallstars.com and look at the date. I thought it was originally power on the 27th and jamz on the 28th!!

Originally it was the 27th all-stars and 28th youth. But then it was switched to all of it on the 28th, youth in the morning and all-stars in the afternoon. How can your gym be going to both Power and Jamz?

Why did Power put youth teams against all star teams. All you need is one of those youth teams to win, and they will be on the boards, saying they are so good. Not saying those teams aren't talented, but I can't wait for the day where all star teams have their own events that are USASF sanctioned and you have to be a member gym to compete, as well it only be all star.

Just and FYI, a youth team is an all-star team. They do not all go to the same school. They practice very hard and just might come and beat some teams. Please do not disrespect what they do. They work very hard.

I didn't say Youth teams didn't work hard, nor did I say they came from the same school, I just said have it for all star teams only. I also mentioned that I can't wait until we have all star only events, without schools, colleges, or other types of programs. They have these on the east coast (all star challenge), but not out here. Now I know there are amazing youth teams, just saying I would like an event where it was only all stars. Thanks!

Whats funny is you know the youth league teams dont know the rules as far as levels go. it'll be interesting to see how power handles legalities.

Totally true! A lot of companies have different rules for youth league. They do go by the level system but their levels allow different skills then the all star levels.

"Youth League" Level 3 running tumbling:
Flips may be performed in alternate positions (layout, x-out, pike, etc.). No tumbling is allowed after a flip (Exception: tumbling out of a front flip is allowed).

"Youth League" Level 4 running tumbling:
Flips are allowed but may not exceed one flipping and one twisting rotation.Just some examples of how they compete with different rules than all stars.

A cheerleader can be on a youth team until age 16. I know several kids on youth teams until their sophomore year. Traditonally a youth/pop warner team started out supporting their football program, but as they got more competitive, the coaches focused on competition rather than spirit. Most youth teams practice 2-3 days a week, with games on Saturday mornings. Now some youth teams take their best kids and compete in the open division as all stars or youth, depending on the program. My only complaint towards youth teams, cheerleading in general is there is no distinction between anything like other sports. You know when someone is on club/all star soccer team versus their school team. There are specific leagues and competitions, but in cheer its all about money so these companies/cheer gyms who host competitions put them anywhere because they want the MONEY.  I think as cheerleading gets larger it becomes more unorganized. We have nothing really set for divisions from youth, school, all star, and even college teams.  You know at some colleges, you can be a club and not even attend the college and still be on the cheer team. Name one other sport you can do that, well that is in the NCAA. I think once we get all the administration parts of cheer straight we will get the sport where it needs to be.

the youth leagues has definitely turned in a different directions these last few years.  there is thousands of dollars being spent in some of the youth league cheerleadering groups.  some of this youth teams are asking the parents to pay upwards towards a $100 per month to cheer with them.  It's a crazy situation.  I would also like to know if their by-laws allow these clubs to conduct business in this fashion.  there was a time that an all-star cheerleader could not also participate in on a youth team.  if the youth teams compete in the allstar category does that break their own rules?  and if the team does follow through with the competition are they dq'd in their league competition?  i am no expert in this matter and i would really like to know about their by-laws?  is there anyone out there to help me with this?
