With the amount of interest in the college team, I thought it would be best to post the information about the team. If you have any questions please email me marlon@cheergyms.com.
Try Outs:
September 14, 2007 @ Pyramids in Concord (change from previous info)from 7pm -9pm
Small Coed (Worlds team) Girls: a minimum of a standing back tuck and toe touch back tuck are required. A round-off back handsping layout or full is reccomended (previous flying experience is reccomended for potential flyers)
Boys : a minimum of a standing back tuck and toe touch back tuck AND a Round-Off Back Handpring Full are required. *We are hoping to have a Small Coed team consisting of 20 girls and 4 boys and if there are enough people interested (boys and girls) we will also have a Large Coed team that will be a standing tuck recommended, not required.
Cost:
-$600 for the season (must be paid at try-outs unless previously negotiated with Morton) -approx. $ 250 for uniform (if you have a plain black skirt/pants that will work, but there is a new top) -This year the team will be trying for a Worlds Bid. Due to the fact that the division we would compete in only allows us to obtain an At-Large bid, more detailed information will be given at try-outs.

HI everyone! jus t wanted to tell everyone im super excited for try outs.. i went to open gym thursday but no one was there except my friend and i :(... o well cant wait to see and meet everyone in sept!
Is anyone going to open gym at Pyramids on Friday? I haven't tumbled in months & need the practice. Also, I'd love to stunt if we can get a group together.
I've got a question for anyone with an inside scoop. I noticed that the info says the small coed team is trying for a World's bid. Will the Large coed team try also? If not, will the large coed team skip the GSSA competition in March? Just curious.
good question zoe! And to answer that, here it goes. We will most likely be have one big team. (Large Coed) From that team, we will be taking the top 24 guys and girls to make the Worlds team. (you can have up to 24 people, 1 - 12 males) The only team competing at GSSA Nationals in March will be the Worlds team. I hope this answers any questions about the team. I am so excited for try-outs as well. I cant wait to see all the new faces, as well as the familiar.
So then is advanced tumbling still a requirement or now just recommended? I don't tumble but and was on the team for a season a couple years back. I am really interested in trying out again but...
Even if you dont have the tumbling at try-outs, we will be pushing to have everyone throw a stading tuck by the first competition. If you have the motivation to get that, then this is the team for you. We are looking for driven cheerleaders that are willing to GAIN new skills this season. I hope that answers any questions you would have.
